We all know that Hong Kong is an undeniably beautiful city to travel to. After all, it’s home to the breathtaking skyline of Victoria Harbour (pro-tip: head over to Victoria Peak to marvel at the view in all its glory, with sparkling city lights and skyscrapers piercing the sky!). But it is also a city of culture, of delicious food, and of countless attractions.

And did you know that actually, Hong Kong is also a very Muslim-friendly destination? In fact, it even brought home nine glorious accolades at the Halal in Travel Awards 2025. Which are:

  • Most Promising Muslim-friendly Destination of the Year
  • 1st in Muslim-friendly Accessible Travel Destination (Non-OIC)
  • 2nd in the Muslim Women Friendly Travel Destination (Non-OIC) category
  • 3rd among Non-Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (Non-OIC) destinations for Muslim-friendly travel
  • Muslim-friendly Attraction of the Year: Ngong Ping 360 Limited
  • Muslim-friendly Hotel of the Year: Kowloon Shangri-La, Hong Kong
  • Muslim-friendly Hotel of the Year: The Mira Hong Kong
  • Muslim-friendly Convention & Exhibition Centre of the Year: Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre
  • Outstanding Contribution to Hong Kong’s Halal Dining Landscape: Incorporated Trustees of the Islamic Community Fund of Hong Kong

The Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) has even put together a super handy Muslim Travel Guide, making it easier than ever for Muslim travellers to explore without a single worry.

Following this success, Hong Kong is adding even more Muslim-friendly spots and services to its map. They’re really going all out to make sure travellers from across the globe can explore every corner of the city with total peace of mind.

A Halal Foodie’s Paradise

We believe that many people can agree that one of the most important aspects of any holiday is the food. They do say that the best way to get to know a culture is through its cuisine. And in Hong Kong, Muslim travellers need not worry about the food options. Why? Because Hong Kong now boasts a whopping 195 halal-certified, Muslim-owned, and Muslim-friendly eateries. Whether you’re craving authentic local delicacies, international cuisine, or even a fancy night out at a Michelin-recognised establishment, Muslim travellers here are well and truly spoilt for choice. It is even entirely possible to stay for weeks and never run out of delicious options!

For something special, Cuisine Cuisine is a standout, serving a scrumptious array of Cantonese and Chinese delicacies with a modern twist. For a lighter snack, Cookies Quartet offers award-winning palmiers that are crispy, flaky, and absolutely delicious, perfect for that boost of fuel while wandering the city.

Rest and Recharge in Style

Of course, accommodation is also a top priority for any trip. In Hong Kong, there are currently 59 Crescent Rated hotels, which means these establishments meet the key needs of Muslim travellers.

These hotels provide essentials like prayer mats and Halal meal options, while some even offer dedicated prayer spaces to ensure everyone can observe their prayers comfortably. Notable mentions include Kowloon Shangri-La and The Mira Hong Kong, both of which earned the “Muslim-Friendly Hotel of the Year” recognition.

Vibes, Music, and “Jelajah Hong Kong”

The HKTB has also been using creative storytelling to showcase the city’s welcoming atmosphere. A recent collaboration with Malaysian singers Ernie Zakri and Syamel Aqmal saw the duo filming a beautiful “Suasana Raya” music video right in the heart of the city. It highlights iconic attractions like Ngong Ping 360 while perfectly capturing a warm, festive Eid vibe.

This is all part of the broader ‘Jelajah Hong Kong’ campaign, which resonates deeply with audiences across Malaysia and Southeast Asia. Honestly, after seeing the campaign and all the incredible offerings, we are very tempted to book a flight immediately. Hong Kong is such a beautiful city, and we surely want to get out there and explore it!
