Let’s be honest: most luxury watches take themselves a bit too seriously. But back in 1969, Piaget decided to have a little fun. They dropped a collection that basically asked, “Why does a watch have to look like a watch? Why can’t it be a piece of jewellery that just happens to tell the time?”

That rebellious “Swinging Sixties” spirit is exactly what’s happening with the new Sixtie on Strap. It’s a remix of last year’s jewellery-heavy launch, but this time it’s leaning into a vibe that’s a bit more “effortless chic” and a lot more blue.

That Shape of the Sixtie, Though

First things first: the case. In a world of circles and squares, Piaget went with a trapezoid. It’s bold, it’s a bit weird in the best way possible, and it’s a total throwback to the era of oversized sunglasses and avant-garde architecture.

The name “Sixtie” is a clever little double entendre. It’s a nod to the 1960s, of course, but it’s also a tribute to the match of time. Sixty seconds, sixty times an hour. It’s poetic, but in a way that feels like it’s trying too hard.

The “Blue Jeans” of Luxury Straps

The real headline here is the switch to deep blue alligator straps. Don’t get it wrong, the gold bracelets from 2025 were stunning, but there’s something about a leather strap that makes a watch feel more personal.

The dark blue is described as “maritime,” and it’s the perfect partner for the pink gold case. If you look at the edges of the watch, you’ll see these tiny, hand-etched ridges called gadroons. They catch the light beautifully, and Piaget even carried that detail over to the buckle. It’s one of those “if you know, you know” design touches that makes the whole thing feel expensive without being loud.

Sixtie is Giving Us Two Very Different Dials

Piaget is giving us two flavours here, and they both have a completely different energy:

The Silvered Solar: This one is the classic. It’s got a brushed, sun-ray finish and golden Roman numerals. It’s bright, clean and looks incredible against the dark blue strap. It’s the safe bet, but in a high-fashion way.

The Blue Quartz: This is the one for the collectors. Piaget has always been the king of stone dials, and this blue quartz is gorgeous. Since it’s a natural stone, every single dial has its own unique marbling and dark streaks. It’s like wearing a tiny, millions-of-years-old painting on your wrist.

A Subtle Family Connection

There’s also a fun “Easter egg” for watch nerds. The Sixtie might be feminine and fluid, but those ridged gadroons are a direct link to its more masculine cousin: the famous Andy Warhol watch. It’s a nice reminder that Piaget’s style is just about great design.

Think of Sixtie on Strap as the perfect “dinner with friends” watch. It’s for those nights when you want to look put-together without looking like you’re trying too hard.

While the gold bracelet version was all about high-glamour events, the new blue leather strap makes it feel more approachable. It’s the kind of piece that looks just as good with a crisp white shirt as it does with a cocktail dress. It’s bold enough to start a conversation, but low-key enough to wear every day. Ideal for anyone who wants a bit of that “Swinging Sixties” flair without the vintage price tag or the fuss.
