Swiss Haute Horlogerie manufacturer Audemars Piguet has officially expanded its footprint in Southeast Asia with the opening of a striking new duplex boutique at The Starhill in Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur. Spanning 425 square metres, the venue marks the third international destination, following Chengdu and Ho Chi Minh City, to unveil the brand’s new global boutique concept, with future locations set for cities like Bangkok, Hangzhou, Abu Dhabi, Bal Harbour, and Mumbai.
Designed by Vincenzo De Cotilis Architects in collaboration with Audemars Piguet’s in-house team, the boutique bridges Swiss heritage and contemporary architecture. The space draws direct inspiration from the rugged natural landscape of the Vallée de Joux. A rich palette of materials, including liquid metal, opaque stone, frosted glass, wooden parquet, and wainscoting, recreates the textures of forest, rock, ice and water, creating an atmosphere that feels both warm and avant-garde.
A Multi-Sensory Horological Journey
Every corner of the boutique offers a layered exploration of fine watchmaking. Dynamic LED displays stream from the outer façade into the interior, immersing visitors in the brand’s origins and craftsmanship. Inside, a central parquet path under a liquid metal ceiling leads to key design highlights:
Natural Motifs: Sculptural, angular metallic tree trunks rise from floor to ceiling, holding floating crystal cases that showcase signature timepieces against a deep “Black Cosmic” stone backdrop.
Artistic Installations: Overhead, a dramatic horological sculpture constructed from hundreds of enlarged watch components hangs suspended, while textured glass partitions evoke cascading water.
Elevated Hospitality: A welcoming main lounge provides plush seating for guests, while a private upper-level lounge offers an exclusive setting for dedicated presentations and in-depth discussions.
Celebrating Heritage and Sustainability
Marking the official inauguration, Audemars Piguet leadership, including Stefanie Ng, Chief Executive Officer for Audemars Piguet Southeast Asia, and Luis Miguel Gonzalez Sebastiani, Chief Commercial Officer, hosted a dedicated opening event. Alongside the boutique launch, an openworkied installation hosted at The Starhill Piazza paid homage to the original Le Brassus manufacturing site, offering the public an up-close look at the brand’s legacy and latest novelties.
In line with Audemars Piguet’s commitment to responsible practices, the new boutique concept targets Gold or Platinum LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification. From responsibly sourced materials to energy-efficient climate and lighting systems, the design prioritises environmental performance alongside the well-being of visitors and staff.
By blending the natural essence of the Jura Mountains with sophisticated architectural design, Audemars Piguet’s latest Kuala Lumpur flagship offers watch enthusiasts in Malaysia a truly immersive destination to explore the art of Haute Horlogerie.
