Mai Bar at Aloft by Marriott Kuala Lumpur Sentral is putting a new spin on dessert hour, teaming up with local ice-cream label Licky Chan on a limited run of drinks that blur the line between scoop and sip. Running through August to October 2026, the lineup takes five of Licky Chan’s most loved flavours and reworks them into a set of cocktails and mocktails built for sipping slowly while the city lights come up.

The idea sounds almost too fun to be serious, and that’s rather the point. Ice-cream has always had a certain nostalgic pull, and Mai Bar leans into that memory while giving it a grown-up twist. Three of the drinks carry a kick, while two are crafted for guests who’d rather skip the alcohol without missing out on the indulgence of a fun drink.

Licky Colada

Start with the Licky Colada, which channels the fruity brightness of the I’m Kamming Out ice cream flavour, blending cherry amaretto, yuzu and coconut with Malibu Rum, Bacardi White and coconut syrup. Finished with a dried yuzu slice and a cherry on top, it plays like a holiday in a glass. For those craving something denser, the Licky Mudslide draws on the In the Mood for Love scoop, mixing macadamia, salted popcorn and dulce de leche with Kahlúa and Baileys for a dessert-like sip that’s rich without being heavy.

The Affo-Meister might be the boldest of the bunch, taking cues from an affogato but swapping espresso for a punchier mix. Built around the Hemingway Paloma flavour, it brings grapefruit, lime and maraschino liqueur together with Jägermeister, tequila and dried grapefruit for a drink that’s equal parts sharp and sweet.

On the non-alcoholic side, Coco-Bana takes the Monkey Business flavour, built on banana bread, pecan and dates, and folds in chocolate syrup and milk for something warm and comforting. Sunset Blush, meanwhile, is the prettiest of the five, pulling from the Fior di Latte flavour and layering in mango, strawberry and raspberry syrups for a drink that tastes as vibrant as it looks.

What makes the collaboration work is the setting as much as the drinks themselves. Mai Bar’s rooftop perch over Kuala Lumpur Sentral gives the whole experience a relaxed, golden-hour energy, with lounge seating and open-air views that make it easy to while away an evening. Guests can settle in, watch the skyline shift colour, and work through the menu one scoop-inspired sip at a time.

There’s real craft behind the concept too. Licky Chan has built a following for its inventive, ever-changing flavours, and Mai Bar’s bartenders have clearly had fun figuring out how to translate that creativity into a glass without losing what makes each flavour distinct. The result feels playful rather than gimmicky, a genuine meeting of two brands that both traffic in whimsy and flavour experimentation.
