This is everything we loved about our stay at Aloft by Marriott Kuala Lumpur Sentral, and there is indeed a lot to love. The hotel wears its trendy, modern personality lightly. Easygoing and chill, it is a place where guests drift in and out through the day and the mood stays relaxed and unhurried. The staff are attentive without hovering, and the balance feels just right.
Prime Location
The number one best thing about Aloft by Marriott Kuala Lumpur Sentral is, as the name suggests, its position at the very heart of KL Sentral. If you know a thing or two about Kuala Lumpur (or you live here), you will know this is the city’s busiest transport hub. That makes this Aloft one of the most well-connected stays in town.
An indoor walkway links KL Sentral directly to the hotel, so getting from platform to lobby is effortless. No fuss, no rain, no bad weather to plan around. The LRT, MRT and KLIA Transit all run through the station, which means you can hop on and off the network with ease and explore the city without a thought for traffic jams. Travellers landing at the airport can ride the KLIA Transit straight to KL Sentral and be checked in shortly after.
The convenience continues once you are back on the ground. The hotel connects to NU Sentral mall, where endless food and shopping options sit just steps away. Whether you need a late-night snack, a forgotten charger or a proper afternoon of browsing, it is all within reach.
The Rooms
A hotel stay begins and ends with the room, and the ones here are great. Cosy and wonderfully cold, they offer a welcome refuge from Malaysia’s sweltering heat. The beds are plush, so plush that on some mornings we barely wanted to leave them. When work called, a good desk was waiting, and the complimentary minibar took care of small comforts. In the bathroom, the Drybar shower amenities left us feeling refreshed and supple after every rinse.
Dinner at W XYZ Bar
Of course, a hotel’s food has to be evaluated (and eaten). Across two nights, we had dinner at two of the property’s bars, starting with W XYZ Bar, a laid-back spot on the ground floor.
The drinks here are a playful affair, each one inspired by a song. We had the chance to make our own under the guidance of the bartender, which turned a cocktail order into a small event of its own. Kopi Me Softly is the alcoholic pick, while Pour Some Milo on Me is zero proof. We also sipped our way through other zero-proof options, including Pink Venom and For Whom the Peach Tolls, each as fun to say as it was to drink.

Then came the food. We tried four dishes: beef curry noodles, kampung fried rice, beef lasagna, and fish and chips. Surprisingly, the kampung fried rice was our favourite. It looks like the simplest dish on the table, yet every forkful was deeply savoury and satisfying.

On another night, dinner took us up to MaiBar, the rooftop bar, where an infinity pool stretches out along one side. A small tip: the pool closes at 11pm, which makes it ideal for a refreshing late-night swim after dinner.
We settled in for an outdoor meal with the city skyline glittering in front of us. The table filled up with pizza, pasta, pulled beef sliders and honey gochujang chicken wings—which took the top spot as our winner. The sliders arrived with a side of fries, and trust us when we say the fries were divine.
Breakfast Worth Waking Up For
Surely it is not a foreign concept that many of us measure a hotel by its breakfast buffet, and Aloft definitely surprised us here. The spread was extensive, with options as far as the eye could see: pastries, congee, salads, yogurts and more. Live stations cooked to order, from fluffy omelettes to roti canai fresh off the griddle.
A must-try here is the signature of Aloft by Marriott Kuala Lumpur Sentral, the Sarawak laksa. Yes, Sarawak laksa for breakfast. The whole spread won us over, so much so that we woke up early every morning to make sure we never missed a single morning at the buffet.
Between the effortless transit access, the cool and comfortable rooms, and food that kept surprising us from the ground floor to the rooftop, Aloft Kuala Lumpur Sentral made city living feel easy. It is a stay that lets you enjoy Kuala Lumpur on your own terms, when you want to.
