Tucked away in the leafy dining haven of Bukit Damansara, Brasa feels like the kind of place that knows exactly how to treat a table of hungry meat lovers. Checking out their take on classic steakhouse dining revealed a standout experience, where Head Chef Francisco’s fire-kissed menu and a front-of-house team treating guests like old friends made for a memorable night.
From the second of entering, the staff set a breezy, super welcoming tone. Menu knowledge was spot-on, happily steering recommendations toward the best cuts and pointing out which sides and sauces play well together.
First Things First: Drinks
If there is one way to ease into a weeknight dinner, it is Brasa’s early evening setup. From 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on weekdays, a free-flow wine deal runs for RM99, with generous pours of both red and white. It is dangerously easy to sit back, sip a crisp white, and pretend tomorrow’s inbox doesn’t exist.
Starters: Melt-In-Your-Mouth Goodness
To get things rolling, two standout starters hit the table and immediately set a high bar. First up was the Charred Wagyu Bone Marrow – absurdly rich, silky, and roasted until it practically melted on contact. A touch of sweet caramelised onions cut through the deep richness, while grilled sourdough provided that all-important, crunchy vehicle to scoop up every last bit.
Right alongside it came the Mushroom Croquettes, perfectly panko-crusted on the outside and soft and intensely savoury on the inside. Breaking through that light golden crunch revealed a warm, velvety mushroom centre that was almost impossible not to finish in two quick, satisfying bites.
The Stars of the Show: The Mains
Since walking into a steakhouse and skipping the signatures feels like a total missed opportunity, three major cuts hit the table, all cooked to a spot-on medium. First up was the 200g Aussie Grass-Fed Filet Mignon, sliced just right so every single bite remained tender and manageable. It came paired with a rich beef jus, roasted root veggies, and a side of golden truffle fries that disappeared surprisingly fast.
Next came the 300g New Zealand Lamb Cutlets, which arrived juicy, nicely seared, and packed with flavour. The bright, tangy chimichurri sauce on the side was a total hero on the plate, cutting right through the richness of the meat alongside a mountain of buttery mashed potatoes.
Rounding out the lineup was the 300g Argentine Grass-Fed Angus Ribeye, delivering classic Angus flavour with just the right amount of char. Pouring the warm beef jus over each slice alongside those smooth mashed potatoes was pure, unadulterated comfort on a plate.
The Sweet Exit
Even with zero space left, dessert was a non-negotiable. The Chocolate Parfait was the ultimate closer – deep, rich chocolate paired with a tart, vibrant raspberry ice cream. That sweet-meets-tangy contrast wiped the slate clean and ended the night on a high note.
The Verdict
By the time the night came to an end, feeling thoroughly stuffed and completely satisfied left everyone already debating when to head back. Between the killer wine promo, Chef Francisco’s spot-on meats, and a team that makes guests feel instantly at home, Brasa is a solid win in Bukit Damansara.
