RM12.5 Million For A Sports Car. Has To Be The Chiron Sport.

We still cant quite believe it, but yes, we had the exclusive chance of being one of the first in Malaysia to somewhat view the Bugatti Chiron Sport in a small public setting of humbled and perplexed media. And since we’re on it, this mammoth of a sports car costs RM12.5 million (€2.65 million net), BEFORE taxes and options are dumped into the mix. And, you’ve got to cue your credit cards and send your treasure chests straight to Bugatti themselves in Euros. That’s not the mind-boggling part though. The details of this car are absolutely insane.

Let’s start by coughing out all the Chiron Sport’s ridiculous details before we choke on them: 1,479 hp, 1,600 Nm of torque, 0-100 km/h in 2.4 seconds, and… 8.0-litre, quad-turbo W…16 engine. We repeat, W16… 16 cylinders. The result? A topspeed of 420 km/h. We know, it’s ridiculous even writing this, but that’s what we got to see in the flesh; a modern masterpiece that epitomises how far an entire industry has come. The car even comes with a carbon fibre windscreen wiper. How else did you think it was going to past the 400 km/h mark??

The Chiron Sport is a buffed up version of the earlier base Chiron, which in itself, is a spectacular show of engineering and innovation. So, the Chiron Sport has the same power output and performance data but, with “significantly improved handling and even greater agility”. How? By making it 18 kilograms lighter with the extensive use of…. carbon fibre. As a result, the Chiron Sport reaches higher cornering speeds and can lap the Nardò handling circuit in the south of Italy, a whole five seconds faster than the base Chiron.

Debuted initially at this year’s Geneva Motor Show, the Chiron Sport is actually made because a few customers… wait for it… COMPLAINED about the base Chiron from 2016, a car named after French racer, Louis Alexandre Chiron. Anyway, they wanted a Chiron with more agility around highspeed corners. With the overall weight reduction, comes a new wheel design, four-pipe exhaust deflector, stiffer suspensions and yes, the aforementioned carbon fibre windscreen wiper arms. That’s the first time any car maker in the world, has gone for a production series with such an instrument. That’s the kind f difference that can be achieved when you look into the most devilish of details.

So, if you have in fact, a spare 13-14 million Ringgit stashed up somewhere under your gold-plated pillow, by all means, get in touch with the good people at Wearnes Automotive. In fact, as part of a few private events, Wearnes Automotive, Bugatti’s official dealer partner in Malaysia since 2006 (yes, we have one!), previewed the Chiron Sport to customers and a selected few, culminating with an official launch gala last Saturday. Only 500 of these stunning super sports cars will be made and yes, this unit is already sold and accounted for. If you’re waiting on the lotto to win this, you might need two draw ballots.
