The realm of luxury yachts has entered a new era, where speed takes a backseat to serenity and sustainability. Recently, the renowned Formula 1 legend, Fernando Alonso, made waves in the world of eco-luxury as he welcomed the electric marvel, the 60 Sunreef Power Eco, into his fleet of passions. Our exploration into the world of eco-yachting begins with his enchanting journey.

Fernando Alonso, a household name in the world of motorsports, has now joined the prestigious ranks of Sunreef’s esteemed ambassadors, a group that includes athletic superstar Rafael Nadal, sustainability entrepreneur Nico Rosberg, and intrepid explorer Mike Horn. Together, they champion an ethos of luxury that seamlessly combines opulence with a deep-rooted commitment to our planet’s well-being.

Alonso’s affiliation with Sunreef Yachts began in September 2021, when he commissioned his bespoke electric catamaran in the glamorous setting of Monaco. Amidst the dazzling atmosphere of the Cannes Yachting Festival, he took center stage at Sunreef’s shipyard press conference, sharing his reasons for building with Sunreef Yachts:

Sunreef Yachts was an easy choice for me. They combine luxury and sustainability like no other shipyard. When I visited their facility in Poland, I saw first-hand how all the details are taken care of. This is what luxury eco yachting should be about.

Not content to be a passive participant, he was rapt in the creation and customization of his luxury catamaran. His numerous visits to Sunreef’s Gdansk shipyard in Poland underscored his dedication to the project. The vessel boasts Sunreef Yachts’ exclusive solar power system, ensuring an uninterrupted supply of clean energy for a seamless e-motoring experience.

Alonso notes, “The 60 Sunreef Power Eco delivered precisely the yachting experience I envisioned. Long, emission-free, noiseless cruises elevate one’s connection with the seas to an unparalleled level. This yacht harbors awe-inspiring technology that is truly unparalleled.

Recently, Alonso indulged in a yachting escape with friends and family aboard his custom 60 Sunreef Power Eco. The catamaran is endowed with electric propulsion, an energy-efficient air-conditioning system, and a tailor-made battery bank, ushering in a new era of eco-responsible yachting.

My life goes so fast. I travel a lot around the world. Once on the track, it’s again all about speed. When I enjoy my time off, I want the exact opposite. I want to travel in total silence, with no fumes, no vibrations.

On board, all that matters is peace of mind, fresh air, and good company. Yachting Should not be about ego. For me, it’s about sharing good moments and being respectful towards the environment.

Among the standout features of his vessel are a spacious aft cockpit with a swim platform and aft garage, a sprawling full-beam bow terrace, and a generous flybridge. For those who aspire to explore the world of Sunreef Yachts’ eco-responsible catamarans, a rendezvous with their team beckons, promising an unforgettable journey into luxury and sustainability.

In the serene wake of Fernando Alonso’s eco-luxury endeavor, a paradigm shift in yachting has been unveiled. It is a realm where the hush of silence and the embrace of nature reign supreme. The 60 Sunreef Power Eco has set sail, marking a chapter in yachting history where luxury and eco-consciousness find harmonious coexistence on the open waters.
