Built around the current performance hybrid 911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet, the 911 Spirit 70 will be the third limited edition 911 model created as part of Porsche’s Heritage Design strategy to revive the spirit of past eras by incorporating earlier vehicles’ iconographic design elements into current models. Its new 3.6 liter boxer-6 engine produces a total of 541 hp with 610 Nm of torque combined with the high-voltage hybrid electric system, eTurbo and electric motor integrated with its PDK transmission. The 911 Spirit 70 is now open for order, with arrivals at European dealerships expected to commence from April 2025 onwards followed by other markets.

Michael Mauer, Vice President Style Porsche said, “The Heritage Design models occupy a special position within our product strategy from a design perspective. The limited-edition sports cars visualise what makes the Porsche brand so special. Every design of our vehicles ties in with our history – these vehicles go one step further. They show how we reinterpret historical design elements in a state-of-the-art sports car.”

Alexander Fabig, Vice President Individualisation and Classic added, “The limited-edition collector’s items are particularly desirable for our customers worldwide. The first two models in the Heritage Design strategy have brought back the lifestyle of past decades and generated a great deal of enthusiasm. We are delighted with this success and are now proud to present the third, highly exclusive model.”

Representing highly emotive concepts within Porsche’s overall product strategy, these Heritage Design models place a particular emphasis on the lifestyle aspect. The series’ first model was 2020’s 911 Targa 4S Heritage Design Edition, channeling elements of style from the 1950s and early 1960s. Porsche then presented the second Heritage Design collector’s 911 in 2022 in the form of the 911 Sport Classic, produced in a limited run of 1,250 units and reviving styles of the 1960s and early 1970s, while also paying tribute to the 997.2 911 Sport Classic of 2010 that itself remains a sought after piece among Porsche enthusiasts even today.

Porsche’s new corporate strategy with the objective of further expanding its customisation possibilities is embodied in the 911 Spirit 70. With over 1,000 Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur options currently touted by the iconic sports car manufacturer, the average sales per vehicle with Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur content has doubled over the past half decade. The company therefore intends to significantly expand Exclusive Manufaktur’s capacity in the near future, to cater for the increasing demand among customers for individually tailored bespoking & customization in their cars.

The 911 Spirit 70 has first appeared wearing a coat of Olive Neo, an especially rich and deep shade of green that exhibits warm undertones. A Bronzite grey-gold colour makes for an exciting contrast shade as applied to 911’s front section, lower rear section and ‘Fuchs’ designed Sport Classic wheels. Its unique visual presence is further enhanced by the black coloured soft top and windscreen frame.

Three black silk gloss decorative stripes run across the length of the bonnet, bringing to mind safety stickers of the 1970s. During vintage races of the era, motorsport drivers applied longitudinal stripes to their cars’ bodies for better visibility at racing speeds on the racetrack. The stripes carry on through the soft top, while Porsche lettered side decorative graphics with a round start number ‘Lollipop’ in black silk gloss and start numbers specified by each individual customer (from 0 to 99) form a visual throwback to Porsche’s rich sporting heritage.

Other nods to tradition comprise the 911 Spirit 70’s Porsche bonnet crest that has been designed with a strong resemblance to 1963’s historic original crest, along with gold “Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur” front wing badges. Another Porsche Heritage badge is mounted to the boot lid’s grille, recalling the design of the Porsche 356’s own badge which was awarded when an example crossed the 100,000-kilometre mark in the 1950s. The Spirit 70’s historic exterior detailing is rounded out by the gold rear Porsche lettering and model designation, with their galvanised gold-plated surfaces exhibiting an especially noticeable brilliance.

As for the interior, a heritage touch of note is the iconic Pasha fabric pattern in a new black and olive neo colourway that echoes the exterior’s paint finish, with its graphic design bringing a sense of movement like a chequered flag being waved to mind, with the sensation of motion created within the fabric by the differently sized, intelligently arranged rectangle forms. In place of the jacquard velour that has featured in previous vintage themed Neunelfers, the textile is combined with flock yarns in the 911 Spirit 70 to impart an even sportier character, along with enhanced tactility and greater comfort on long distance road trips.

The Pasha pattern is used in the 18-way sports seats’ Plus’ center panels, and even the glove compartment’s interior. Together, they make for an elegant visual contrast with the standard Basalt Black Club Leather trim with Decorative Stitching in Olive Neo, and Basalt Black Club Leather interior package. For an even greater 70s aesthetic, decorative Pasha inlays are available as cost options for the seat backrests and dashboard trim.

Historic design elements are also incorporated into the instrument cluster thanks to advanced technology, with the 12.65-inch high resolution driver display featuring white pointers and analogue formatted scale lines. The fully digital rev counter also incorporates green digits and model lettering inspired by the iconic Porsche 356’s instruments, while a special version of the Sport Chrono stopwatch features white hands and green numerals to echo these aesthetic touches.

As a further accompaniment to the 911 Spirit 70 and celebration of Porsche Design’s rich horological heritage, the Chronograph 911 Spirit 70 has been created in a limited run of 1,500 pieces, available only to the vehicle’s buyers. A range of visual details bring the heritage themed 911 Spirit 70 to mind, including the dial’s striking black Pasha pattern, and vivid colour accents of Phosphor Green and Traffic Red inspired by its heritage rev counter. The chronograph features a fully titanium case coated in black titanium carbide to match the 911’s lightweight philosophy, while at its heart beats the COSC-certified Porsche Design Caliber WERK 01.100 movement. This is powered by a 360° bi-color Black & Bronzite rotor designed to mimic the 911 Spirit 70’s wheel rim design, topped with a historic Porsche Crest on its central hub cover.

A new Apple Vision Pro app with complimentary availability in the App Store enables users to immerse themselves in the 70s and experience a further dimension of the 911 Spirit 70’s launch.Through this specially crafted AR/VR experience, they can customize their own rendition of the vehicle while gaining valuable insights into the decade’s iconic designs and cultural touchpoints.
