Even in the rarefied world of yachting, the sense of freedom imparted by the knowledge that your cruising adventures are truly boundless has very few equals indeed. Technohull undoubtedly took this concept keenly to heart when developing its new Expedition Series, the latest series in its line of highly capable industry leading high-performance luxury boats. Measuring in at 14.85 meters, they’ve officially launched XPD 46 as the model family’s first limit-breaking model with genuinely all-weather, all- season offshore capabilities as striking as her rakish convertible superstructure.

As an adventure cruiser embodying that rare kind of flexibility which sees it able to weather storms one day before stunning Cannes or St Tropez the very next, the XPD 46 seamlessly blends Scandinavian design features & rugged capabilities with the kind of refined styling, open-air elegance and superlative comfort that have long defined the finest Mediterranean cruisers. Its form is defined with uncompromising attention to detail too, from its dynamically profiled forward-raked windscreen that minimizes distracting reflections during nightly sojourns to the positive flotation protective fender, and the sublimely voluptuous reverse sheer line formed by the high bow flowing sleekly rearwards into the aft deck.

Form really follows function here too, with the XPD 46 incorporating an advanced Dynastream deep-V hull developed with ventilated steps to elevate performance while taking on almost any sea state without compromising on guest comfort. Its high-flare sheer line and bow design optimized to pierce waves while absorbing shocks further expands on its indomitable, go-anywhere cruising abilities year-round in all climates.

Its adaptable central superstructure perfectly reflects this versatility: when closed up it forms a luxuriously cocooning bubble for occupants during inclement weather or when undertaking off-season adventures at higher latitudes. During warmer weather blasts or more laidback summer days though, the doors & roof slide away into the rear while the large aft window opens to form an evocatively enjoyable area flowing the indoor and outdoor areas together.

The vessel’s external social areas are no less impressive, with a sizable aft sunbed & seating unit enabling convivial living in that glamorously inimitable Mediterranean style. Twinned openings within it provide ample room for storing toys, or even an inflatable dinghy for exploratory trips to nearby beaches or inlets. Her commendably wide beam of 4.40 metres beam facilitates spacious side decks leading to another large sunpad forwards in the bow with its own spacious storage and locker.

Adding a measure of privacy to the XPD 46, its sleeping accommodations are split both forward & aft of the deck saloon, with a console door providing access to the forward master suite. Comfortably luxurious, its generous double bed is sure to provide a sound night’s sleep; while there’s even an ensuite head with all the needed essentials. As for the rear guest cabin located at the saloon’s rear, it features an oversized double bed as the perfect relaxing retreat when night falls following adventurously exhilarating days on board. Fit and finish throughout its interior, saloon and deck are of a naturally exemplary quality, exuding sophisticated luxury right down to the finest details in material choice & exquisite upholstery stitching.

This is more than simply an exceedingly comfortable luxury boat for lazing around however: after all, seriously adventurous cruising is the name of the game when it comes to the Expedition Series, and here the XPD 46 is no different. Several inboard or outboard power configurations can be specified to produce a total combined output of 1,800 hp for a 35 knot standard cruising speed; while more powerful engine setups will bring a top speed closer to a spirited 60 knots. For those who seek to venture beyond the abilities of standard cruising motor yachts, that advanced hull has been optimized to take on even heavier seas & weather conditions, giving it almost limitless scope for coastal, littoral and even offshore adventuring.
