If you lived through the 80s and 90s, the mention of Hotel Equatorial’s Blue Moon probably triggers a rush of core memories. It was a true icon of a party. Back then, it was the beating heart of the city’s nightlife, packed with high-energy live DJs playing the kinds of sets that the crowds go crazy for. It was the place to see and be seen.
And then, it became a beautiful memory. Until now.
Get your dancing shoes ready, because the legendary vibe is making a spectacular, one-night-only comeback. Appropriately named the Once in a Blue Moon Party, this revival is happening on 31 May 2026 at none other than EQ Kuala Lumpur.
The Nostalgia We All Love
This exclusive reunion is taking over Sky51, a party perched high above the city on the 51st floor. You’ll get the same infectious energy and nostalgic vibes, but with a breathtaking, panoramic night sky as your backdrop.
To make sure the soundtrack is absolutely spot-on, the event is teaming up with Club Roots on LITE Drive. They know exactly how to cue up the tracks that will transport you straight back in time. It promises to be an evening overflowing with incredible music, unstoppable fun, and a heavy dose of nostalgia.
A legendary party needs a legendary lineup, and this one delivers. We’re talking about LITE FM favourites DJs Sheela, OJ, Robert Mah, and Adrian G, alongside the one and only DJ Phat Fabes. Each of these masters behind the decks has a personal connection to the original Blue Moon era, meaning they know exactly how to trigger that perfect throwback wave.
Get ready for a musical journey spanning three whole decades. Whether you live for the groovy anthems of the 70s, the synth-pop of the 80s, or the ultimate dance tracks of the 90s, your ears are in for a serious treat. Their sets will blend familiarity with pure, timeless energy, keeping you moving all night long.
Retro Sips & Street Eats
Of course, you can’t dance down memory lane on an empty stomach. The drink menu is getting a retro makeover too, featuring iconic classics like the Blue Lagoon, Tequila Sunrise, Cosmopolitan, and the theatrical Flaming Lamborghini. Looking to celebrate with your crew? They’ve also got celebratory shooters and cocktail jugs made for sharing.
Food-wise, think fun, casual, and delicious. Live stations will be serving up crowd-pleasers like juicy sliders, classic sausage buns, and the ultimate late-night comfort food: nasi lemak bungkus. If you’re looking for a full meal, EQ’s regular menu is still available, making it easy to switch from dinner to drinks, and straight to the dance floor.
Strike the Gong and Hit the Floor
To keep the energy high, there are two signature moments you won’t want to miss:
- “Make It Friends”: Want to be the hero of the night? You can buy a RM1,000 round for the whole house! Your generosity will be announced by the ceremonial striking of a gong, bringing the entire room together in one big toast.
- The Dance Floor Challenge: Dust off your best moves, because the DJs will be watching. The most captivating dancer of the night walks away with a bottle of premium whisky selected by the DJs themselves.
Lock In Your Spot (and Stay the Night)
The party kicks off at 7 PM and goes on late into the night. Here is how you can join the fun:
- General Entry: Available with a minimum spend of RM150+ per person, which includes a reserved table inside the venue.
- The VIP Experience: Want to level up your night? You can book a private Sky Pod with a panoramic view of the city for a minimum spend of RM2,000+ per pod.
EQ is also offering an exclusive Blue Moon stay experience for anyone booking a seat or table at the party. Available from 29 May to 2 June 2026, you can score a gorgeous room starting from RM630+, which includes a buffet breakfast for two and daily in-room snacks and soft drinks. It’s the perfect excuse for a stylish city staycation!
