A rare confluence of French culinary precision and Maldivian natural beauty is set to take place this March. From 5 to 10 March 2026, Dusit Thani Maldives, located within the prestigious UNESCO Biosphere Reserve of Baa Attoll, will host Michelin-starred Chef Christophe Chiavola for an exclusive six-day residency.
Currently, the visionary behind the Michelin-starred Le Prieuré Baumaniére in France, Chef Christophe, brings a philosophy defined by seasonality and an instinctive respect for ingredients. This residency at the Dusit Thani Maldives’ oceanfront Sea Grill restaurant promises a sophisticated dialogue between European technique and the vibrant produce of the Indian Ocean.
A Curated Journey of Flavour at Dusit Thani Maldives
The residency is designed as a series of intimate encounters, moving beyond traditional dining into immersive education and storytelling.
The Masterclasses: Two distinct sessions, Masterclass by the Ocean and Island Flavours Unveiled, offer rare access to the techniques of a Michelin-starred kitchen. These hands-on experiences focus on how to elevate seasonal produce through refined French methods.
Shades of the Sea: As the sun sets over the Baa Atoll, this evening combines handcrafted cocktails with a multi-course dinner, bridging the gap between Chef Christophe’s French roots and the spirit of the Maldives.
The Michelin Star Gala: The residency reaches a peak with a one-night-only gala dinner. This centrepiece event showcases signature dishes reinterpreted with local Maldivian ingredients, served under the stars against the backdrop of the ocean
Nature as the Common Language
The collaboration stems from a shared ethos between the chef and the resort. According to Jean-Louis Ripoche, Area General Manager of Dusit Thani Maldives, the residency aligns with the resort’s dedication to thoughtful and immersive culinary experiences.
Reservations and Availability
Given the intimate nature of the events and the prestige of the guest chef, seating is strictly limited. For those seeking a blend of high gastronomy and tropical tranquillity, advance reservations are highly recommended for this brief window in March.
