Mother’s Day. A single day dedicated to the extraordinary women who raised us.
Arguably, Mother’s Day should be every single day. But as with any celebratory day, it’s just a wonderful thing being able to dedicate one specific day of the year to truly go all out for your mother — to share a beautiful time, indulge in good food, and exchange loving gifts.
For this year’s celebration, I decided to do just that, gathering the entire family to enjoy the Mother’s Day buffet at Latest Recipe, Le Méridien Kuala Lumpur.
The Perfect Weekend Setting
Latest Recipe hosted their Mother’s Day feast across two days: a decadent dinner on Saturday, 9th May, and a lavish lunch on Sunday, 10th May. Because Mother’s Day itself fell on Sunday, the afternoon lunch felt like the most fitting choice for our family gathering.
Stepping into the restaurant, the room was immediately alive with a vibrant, celebratory energy. Latest Recipe was beautifully bustling, filled with joyous families all honouring the beloved women of their respective houses — much like my own family and I were. It was the kind of sophisticated, warm atmosphere that instantly puts you in the mood for a grand occasion.
Of course, when it comes to a buffet, a wide spectrum of food selections is always the ultimate highlight, and Le Méridien surely had that covered. The spread was an absolute feast for the senses, spanning an impressive range of seafood, succulent carved meats, and a curated selection of both international and local favourite dishes.
For the savoury lovers in our party, there was a wealth of options to explore beyond the classic roasts and seafood. A personal favourite was the Japanese station — with teppanyaki meats grilled to absolute perfection, paired beautifully with fragrant Japanese garlic fried rice, comforting miso soup, and light, crispy tempura. Adding a touch of culinary theatre to the afternoon was the live pasta station, where chefs whipped up fresh pasta dishes cooked to order, serving as just another highlight of the extensive spread.
Yet, the true shining star of the afternoon was undoubtedly the dessert station. My mother has a notorious soft spot for sweets, and she quite happily found herself by the dessert counter, utterly spoilt for choice by the decadent creations on display.
Moments that Linger
Overall, our afternoon at Latest Recipe was one to remember. A flawless blend of comforting cuisine, elegant surroundings, and precious family time.
