It is a buka puasa (or iftar) experience designed to bridge the gap between nostalgic heritage and trendy urban dining — and it certainly delivers on both fronts.

The Peculiar Star: Nasi Kerabu Sushi Roll

The undisputed star of the show is a creation that might cause a double take. Introducing the Nasi Kerabu Sushi Roll: a dish born out of Amelia Christie’s personal love for the blue-tinted rice classic, reimagined by Aloft’s culinary team.

At first glance, the pairing of the earthy Malaysian Nasi Kerabu with the structure of a Japanese Sushi Roll seems unexpected. However, the flavours work surprisingly well together, proving that even the most beloved classics can benefit from a cosmopolitan makeover.

Reimagined Traditional Favourites

The “Urban” theme continues throughout the Ramadan buffet, where traditional staples are given a cheeky, modern upgrade. The menu features an array of unique fusion dishes that cater to a contemporary palate. This includes Kerabu Soba Noodles, Burrito Kambing Bakar, and even Beef Roti John with Avocado Salad. To complement these dishes, the buffet did not forget to include familiar favourites as well, such as Masak Lemak Cili Api Baby Lobster and Briyani Itik Salai, ensuring a well-rounded experience for every type of diner.

Indulgent Desserts and An Equally Indulgent Atmosphere

Saving room for dessert is non-negotiable here. While the Kek Batik Matcha and Banana Pudding are tempting and delicious in their own right, the Pistachio Kunafa Cheesecake is, in our opinion, the true showstopper.

Trust us when we say the combination of melt-in-the-mouth creamy cheesecake, a crispy pistachio kunafa base, and a decadent chocolate ganache topping makes for a combination sent from the heavens. Best of all, it avoids being overbearingly sweet, offering a perfectly balanced indulgence for those who prefer a more refined treat to end their meal.

And with indulgent desserts comes an equally indulgent atmosphere — thanks to the melodic tunes of violinist Syerot, providing a sophisticated backdrop to the dining experience.
