Malaysia has long been a vibrant tapestry of cultures. With people of different backgrounds coming together, sharing traditions, and celebrating side by side. This August, probably the most important event coming up is Merdeka, Malaysia’s Independence Day. And come next month? Mid-Autumn Festival, with mooncakes to share and joy to fill the air.

Of course, Lexis Hotel Group is not letting these celebrations go by without a good offer. Across its Kuala Lumpur and Port Dickson properties, the group has rolled out a run of mooncake gifting, rooftop parties, family activities and distinctly Malaysian menus, giving guests plenty of reasons to book a table (or several) throughout August and September.

Mooncake Gifting for Everyone

Over at Imperial Lexis Kuala Lumpur, the Mid-Autumn Festival gets the premium treatment with “The Imperial Moonrise: Premium Mooncake Collection.” Tucked into a keepsake box built for gifting, the set brings together four classics, which are Pure White Lotus, White Lotus Single Yolk, Jade Pandan, and Assorted Fruits & Nuts. It retails at RM260 nett, but anyone who orders ahead of 31 August 2026 locks in an early bird rate of RM208 nett, a fairly generous 20% off. Boxes land from mid-August while supplies last, so this is one for the calendar rather than a last-minute decision.

Merdeka, Poured and Plated

The Merdeka lineup at Imperial Lexis Kuala Lumpur is where things get playful. At Feast at FIFTY1 and Satellite Restaurant & Bar, the signature pour is “Borneo Sunset” — a cocktail built on Endu Classic tuak, spiced rum, pineapple, calamansi and honey, essentially Sarawak’s craft spirit dressed up for a skyline toast. If that hits the spot, the Endu Sparkling Tuak (Classic or Roselle) is available to take home at RM300 nett a bottle, with the second bottle at half price right through August and September.

Afternoon tea gets a local spin too. Lexis Lounge’s “The Independent Tea Ritual” runs daily from 16 August to 15 September 2026, 2pm to 5pm, pairing Chicken Curry Puff, Ketupat With Serunding Ayam, Raisin Scone with Kaya and Jam, and Sarawak Layer Cake with a choice of Degayo Coffee or Harney & Sons Tea, all for RM69 nett per head.

For something more grab-and-go, there’s the “Kopi & Kuih” pairing, which brings together locally inspired coffee and tea. Expect the Apam Balik Kampung Iced Latte and Onde-Onde Pandan Iced Latte to Roti Bakar Kaya Latte and Teh Tarik Harum Gula Melaka, served alongside a pair of traditional kuih. It’s available across the hotel’s food and beverage outlets (UMI Japanese Restaurant excluded) from 16 August to 16 September 2026, priced at RM38 nett.

Meanwhile, UMI Japanese Restaurant is doing something rather unexpected: a seven-course Merdeka omakase called “The Taste of Harmony,” running 24 to 31 August 2026. It’s a sort of Malaysia-Japan mash-up, including concoctions like Sabah Botan Ebi with Cincalok Cream, a trio of Tori Satay, Otak-Otak Tamago and Kerabu Hamachi, Laksa Dashi with Hokkaido Scallop, Hamachi Carpaccio with Tempoyak Cream, Wagyu Rendang, Nasi Lemak Donburi with Koebi and Tori Karaage, and a Gula Melaka Tiramisu to finish. All that for RM388 nett per person.

Rounding things off, Roselle Coffee House hosts “The Merdeka FEASTival” on 30 August 2026 from 6pm to 10pm — a buffet loaded with nostalgic favourites, plus traditional games, batik painting and what’s cheekily billed as an “Unofficial National Drinks Station.” Adults pay RM190 nett, senior citizens (60 and above) and children aged 7 to 12 pay RM120 nett, kids six and under eat free with a paying adult, and, as a nice touch, anyone born on 31 August gets in for just RM69 nett, limited to the first 31 fully paid bookings.

Family Time Down in Port Dickson

The celebrations extend a bit further south too. At Lexis Hibiscus Port Dickson, Kidz World is running “Freedom to Play: Merdeka Fun Package” from 25 August to 6 September 2026. For RM55 nett per child, kids get an hour in Kidz World, two DIY craft sessions (Egg-citing Masterpiece and Bunga Raya of Unity), and a photobooth keepsake to take home. Available in the morning (10am–12pm) or afternoon (3pm–5pm) slots.

Over at Grand Lexis Port Dickson, comfort food takes the spotlight with “The Grand Merdeka Fish Head Feast,” running 17 August to 20 September 2026. Choose between a curry or Asam Pedas version, served with rice, ulam, salted egg and Sago Gula Melaka for RM58 nett, with the option to round out the table with Sambal Udang Petai, Baby Kailan Masak Ikan Masin, Telur Dadar and Kangkung Masak Belacan.

Between the mooncake gifting, the rooftop toasts and the family craft sessions, Lexis Hotel Group has essentially built a month-long excuse to eat well and celebrate. Whether that’s a quiet afternoon tea or a full Merdeka Eve blowout under the stars.
