The newest Zeelander 7 vessel has now been delivered by Dutch shipyard Zeelander Yachts, in the timeless refined 20.3-metre (66’7”) form of Loloma. Furthering her sister ships’ legacy of being the ultimate collectors’ compact superyachts, this latest she boasts a bespoke interior design with gorgeously crafted details personally handpicked by her owner, who maintained a close involvement throughout the build.

Loloma’s sculptural grace and flowingly curved aesthetics make for a truly head-turning vessel on the water. A tall, flared bow gradually gives way to the deeply raked transom via a lengthy S-shaped shearline, while a single strip of three-dimensionally sculpted glass dominates her deckhouse’s low profile. Contrasting the signature dark blue hull & white superstructure look often favoured by Zeelander’s other clients, Loloma’s monotone silver-grey hull is another stand-out feature; along with her lack of a waterline that was another of the owner’s intentional choices to enhance Loloma’s connection with her natural environment.

The overall effect evokes the classically cultured grace and sensuousness that define classic cars like the Porsche 356, and even vintage aircraft such as the Douglas DC-3 or Lockheed Constellation; entirely befitting of the organically curved design language that has long characterized this distinctively unique brand from the Netherlands.

Moving inside, her interior also starkly contrasts existing styling traditions thanks to her owner’s bold design choices. For just one example, he elected to create a minimalistically modern look by using a single, large grey slab of synthetic teak without any seams. Meticulously crafted to match the aesthetics of her owner’s main superyacht, private jet and helicopter, ample swathes of striking swamp oak form another characteristic of Loloma’s interior. Formed when oak is submerged in peat bogs, swamps or riverbeds over a period ranging from hundreds to thousands of years — during which irons & tannins seep into the wood to grant it a richly dark colour somewhere between grey and black — this timber material can only be found through the course of natural discovery rather than grown, giving it a true nature of exclusivity.

European-contemporary minimalism defines most of Loloma’s interior, with a measured stone, grey, sand and charcoal monochrome palette giving her a serene internal atmosphere that is both calmly uncluttered & texturally refined and textural. Brushed stainless steel finishes are another unique feature throughout Loloma, in place of the polished stainless steel more usually specified on Zeelander’s vessels. As a bold design first, the overall effects are truly outstanding. Along with the seamless Corian used to form her shower walls, elegant yet durable bouclé upholstery on her seating both inside & outside, and hand-painted grey wood art accenting her exterior, the clear result is one of ageless elegance enhanced with thorough attention to detail.

Remarkable performance capabilities are also built into Loloma’s design, befitting a brand long known for its vessels’ enviable on-water velocities. A 40 knot maximum speed makes for exhilarating experiences for all aboard thanks to her triple IPS 1350 engines, which also grant her an impressive range. She can cover 630 nautical miles at a 32 knot cruising speed; maximum reach is 2,700 nautical miles at a lower rate of 7 knots. Effortless quietness is another key factor here, as on all other Zeelanders. Background noise even at full speed never exceeds 70dBA, while even her hotel loads at anchor are as silent as a whisper.

On-board accommodation can cater for a maximum of six guests, with the phenomenal master suite occupying the boat’s forward third with a king-sized island bed, sizable ensuite, and abundant natural light. Along with another two beautifully-appointed guest suites, it makes full use of Loloma’s generous volumes & impressive headroom.

There is an aft cabin for the captain, while a shell door provides convenient access to the starboard tender garage. A well-equipped galley and dining space provide comfortably flexible lounging for up to eight guests in Loloma’s main-deck saloon; while a bespoke foldable table maximizes interior space while perfectly replicating the one in her owner’s private jet.

Zeelander’s founder & owner, Sietse Koopmans said, Thanks to the close involvement of her dedicated owner from drawing board sketches right through to delivery, Loloma is one of the most ambitious and tailor-made creations from our yard to date. Crafting a miniature superyacht which perfectly matches a mothership, jet and helicopter was certainly a unique challenge and one we truly relished.”

Loloma’s world spanning travel capabilities are set to impress throughout the upcoming yachting season, and even further beyond. She will set anchor first in Monaco, then Ibiza, St. Barths, the Bahamas & Australia, before reaching her spiritual namesake Fiji, where ‘loloma’ carries the connotations of love, kindness, and generosity.
