If you’re an oyster enthusiast living in or visiting Hong Kong, you absolutely have to consider going for Oyster Tuesday at Zoku. This contemporary Japanese restaurant, nestled on the second floor of the stunning Hari Hong Kong on Lockhart Road (a fantastic spot if you’re looking for a luxurious getaway, too!), transforms into an oyster lover’s dream every Tuesday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Dive Into a Wonderland of Oysters
Starting from HK$988 for two people (and HK$488 for every additional person joining), you get to indulge in a full-blown oyster adventure. Picture this: you step into Zoku, soak in the ambiance of its Japanese “clan” theme — with chic leather booths, plush velvet seating, and an eye-catching ceiling of angled timber slats — and then, the magic begins. You’re treated to a glorious 90 minutes of free-flow fresh, seasonal oysters, perfectly complemented by zesty lime and a delicate ponzu sauce. This alone is enough to send any oyster aficionado straight to heaven!
But that’s not all the menu offers, of course. As a sort of ‘palate cleanser’ from all the seafood-y goodness of the fresh, raw oysters, the menu also features delectable golden fried oyster and avocado sushi, comforting kake udon with oysters, and a selection of savoury grilled skewers, known in Japan as kushiyaki. And because every great meal deserves a sweet ending, you’ll get to indulge in a delightful hojicha crème brûlée, the perfect way to cap off your seafood feast.
A Toast to Every Taste
They also offer a fantastic array of drink options to perfectly pair with the oysters. If you’re a fan of traditional Japanese beverages, you can enjoy a warm sake pairing, such as the Gassan Joujun Karakuchi for HK$168 or the Yamagata Masamune Junmai for HK$198, each served in a 180mL portion. For those who appreciate a good spirit, the whisky and cigar combo, featuring a Confidenciaal cigar and a Dalmore 12 Year Single Malt Whisky, is available for HK$328.
Craving something a bit more vibrant? The ‘Jimina and Kanpai’ package for HK$288 lets you choose from an array of highballs and signature cocktails. Imagine sipping on a ‘Chakai,’ a unique blend of Daiyame Shochu, lychee, Komasa Hojicha Gin, passion fruit, and lemon, or perhaps a ‘Hatsukoi’ with pisco, Kyoho, Yakult, lime, and aer. And for those who enjoy a touch of elegance in their drinks, the ‘Suzie Wong,’ concocted from Ballantine’s scotch whisky, rose, cucumber, yuzu, and lemon, is another excellent choice.
Aside from these, they also offer two-hour free-flow drinks packages. For those who simply do not drink alcohol, there’s no need to worry, because there are many non-alcoholic beverage options. The ‘Jimina’ package for HK$168 includes signature mocktails, Saicho sparkling tea, soft drinks, non-alcoholic beer, juices, and sparkling and still water. ‘Toohanbi’ with apple juice, peach puree, shiso leaf and tonic water, ‘Breeze’ with mint, Hokkaido milk and elderflower, and ‘Yuzu Square’ with orange juice, yuzu juice, honey and pomegranate are among the signature mocktails.
But if you simply want it all, the ‘All Drinks’ package for HK$388 is your go-to. This includes everything from the ‘Jimina + Kanpai’ package, plus the luxurious ‘Champagne Vs Sake’ option, featuring free-flow Perrier-Jouët Grand Brut and Gassan Junmai Houjun Karakuchi.
What’s more, Zoku sources their oysters sustainably. Diners will be delighted to be able to enjoy as many oysters as they want, guilt-free.
