Zentis Osaka is turning their elegant 2nd-floor bar at UPSTAIRZ Lounge, Bar, Restaurant, into a vibrant classroom, where you’ll not only learn but also get hands-on with some of Japan’s most celebrated spirits. It’s an immersive experience designed to tickle your taste buds and sharpen your bartending prowess.

Whisky Wisdom

Journey through the fascinating history and distinctive characteristics of Japanese whisky. You’ll gain insights that will make you sound like a connoisseur at your next gathering.

Highball Heroics

You’ll get to craft your very own Highball under the watchful eyes of two true masters: award-winning bartenders Norihiko Furuse and Yuji Otomo from UPSTAIRZ. And here’s the fun part – they’ll be mixing up the same cocktail so you can compare and truly appreciate how technique elevates this simple concoction.

The Dream Team

Meet your guides for the evening! Norihiko Furuse, the Bar Manager at UPSTAIRZ, brings a wealth of international experience and a knack for creating imaginative cocktails with Japanese ingredients. And don’t forget Yuji Otomo, the Grand Champion of the RÉMY MARTIN Bartender Talent Academy 2024 Japan! These two artists are ready to share their secrets.

A Sip of Luxury

The highlight for many will be the exclusive tasting session featuring 15ml servings of some truly legendary whiskies: the smooth Yamazaki 12 Years Old, the crisp Hakushu 12 Years Old and the incredibly rare Hibiki 21 Years Old. (And yes, the Highball you’ll be making will feature the delightful Hibiki Japanese Harmony!)

More Than Just a Drink: It’s a Craft!

The “Zentis Craftsmanship” series is all about connecting guests with local crafts and various skills. Past events have taught participants everything from hand-roasting coffee to the intricate art of kintsugi (mending broken ceramics) and even sustainable flower arrangements. This bartending workshop continues that tradition, offering a unique opportunity to learn a valuable skill while enjoying a premium experience.

Ready to Join the Fun? 

These intimate workshops are held twice a month from February through October 2025 and with a maximum of just four participants per day, you’re guaranteed personalised attention.

Each hour-long season, running from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm, is priced at JPY 14,520 (inclusive of service charge and consumption tax) and is open to those 20 years and older. Plus, the activity is held in both English and Japanese, ensuring everyone can join the conversation.
