It might surprise you, maybe just a little, but right amidst the high-rise glamour of Kuala Lumpur’s bustling heart, there’s a truly authentic (and unbelievably delicious) spot for Sichuan cuisine. We’re talking about Sichuan Kitchen, nestled inside of Four Points by Sheraton KLCC — and it is a restaurant that effortlessly serves up good food, good vibes, and is absolutely well worth the visit.
Finding the place is part of the fun — it’s tucked away like a proper hidden gem on the first floor. You might even miss it if you’re not careful enough, but following the subtle signage, or even asking for directions from the lovely hotel staff can get you where you need to be without a problem. Once inside, the vibe is warm and inviting — a sleek, stylish setting that’s a perfect visual match for the fiery heat of Sichuan cuisine. The seats are seriously plush and comfy, the ambiance is sophisticated without feeling stuffy, and the service? It’s truly exceptional, making the whole dining experience run as smooth as the perfectly balanced broth that they serve.
Sichuan Kitchen’s menu is an absolute feast, brimming with options from their hefty à la carte list, convenient set menus, and their much-loved weekend hot pot buffet. But our highlight of the day is the seasonal Hairy Crab, which came as a complete hot pot set and delivered the perfect punch of everything, to satisfy every single craving.
The beauty of hot pot is honestly just the whole experience that comes with it. When it comes to hot pot, you’re your own chef, dunking ingredients and making sure every single bite you pull out is perfectly piping hot and fresh. Another plus point is how you get to customise your own dipping sauce, matching it to suit your taste exactly. The slow pace is key; hot pot allows you to chill, chat with your friends while the food cooks, and really bond over how amazing it all tastes when you finally lift it into your bowl and into your mouth.
The meal we had kicked off with the signature dual, or yin-yang, pot, which gives you two equally soothing flavours: the earthy truffle mushroom soup and the comforting, mild coconut chicken broth. The set is loaded with premium ingredients — a great mix of seafood, quality meats, and seasonal veggies. One of the highlights of the set is the slipper lobster; its firm, bouncy flesh is so fresh, it practically tastes like it just jumped out of the ocean! You also get juicy slices of beef (or lamb, if you prefer) alongside all the perfect mushrooms and greens. Cook it all up, dip it in your custom sauce, and this hot pot will definitely leave you begging for seconds.
But let’s talk about the true star of the show: the seasonal Hairy Crab. Don’t let its size fool you — it’s utterly packed with flavour and texture. If you find cracking it open too tricky, no worries! The staff is trained to expertly dismantle and even plate the crab for you beautifully. While the sweet meat is great, the real treasure is the roe, which hits you with this incredible creamy, savoury richness. Paired with this crab is a delicate cup of ginger tea. Following Chinese tradition, this is meant to warm up the body after eating the “cooling” crab, and it works perfectly as a palate cleanser, too. We love how refreshing the tea is, with just the right hint of ginger spice!

A Warm Cup of Ginger Tea
The meal ended on a high note with their Dessert of the Day, which happened to be a lovely bowl of cold Mango Sago. It was the absolute perfect finish to the warm hot pot — the sweet, tangy mango paired with those refreshing bits of pomelo was everything we needed.
So, if you have time, definitely consider visiting Sichuan Kitchen. Go fill up on the amazing food, make some unforgettable memories, and grab a full gallery of pictures for those who love capturing little memoirs of their life.
