You really need to strategically plan your attack on this semi-buffet, lest you fill up too quickly before you’ve sampled everything! We were truly spoilt for choice with an incredible array of Japanese delicacies, including the unexpected presence of the Sheraton Petaling Jaya Hotel’s very own Classic Slow-Roasted Turkey as a grand centrepiece alongside the Eastern delights.
Our first stop? The sushi bar, a truly stunning sight. It’s lined with assorted premium nigiri sushi and various maki rolls, and you can even watch the chefs preparing more fresh sushi right before your eyes. That fatty piece of salmon, sitting atop perfectly seasoned sushi rice, dipped into the ideal ratio of wasabi and shoyu is certainly a recipe for success (of taste, that is).

Their unlimited sashimi section is also a highlight, featuring 6 types that include Salmon, King Prawn, Octopus, Cuttlefish, Yellowtail, and Tuna. It is truly sashimi galore, and just writing about it is making us drool all over again.

But the real highlight that stole the show was the Teppanyaki station. Honestly, who can resist the sight (and smell!) of perfectly grilled Teppanyaki?
At this live station, you get to pick your choice of proteins, ranging from luscious cuts of Beef, Salmon, Scallop, and Chicken, right down to fresh Oyster and King Prawn! Pile up your plate with some mushrooms and sweet cabbage (along with the meats, of course), hand it off to the expert chef, and enjoy the show! It’s a truly mesmerising spectacle watching them grill everything to perfection right there on the flat grill.
The teppanyaki is served alongside a side of Chahan (Japanese fried rice). Options include Wagyu Fat Chahan and Unagi Chahan — and they indeed tasted heavenly. But our pick? Hands down, the Wagyu Fat Chahan. It was so incredibly flavourful, with the tiny bits of fat melting perfectly into the fried rice. It had us going back for seconds (and maybe even thirds!).
The grilled teppanyaki meats themselves? Melt-in-your-mouth amazing. And the oysters had especially impressed us. You know how oysters have that off, briny taste? You don’t have to worry about that here, because these oysters were super fresh and utterly divine.
There’s Always Room For Dessert!
Don’t forget to save room for the grand finale! After following an extensive journey through premium Japanese flavours, the dessert station offers a sweet finish. For this festive special, the desserts and sweets are both pretty and delicious to eat!
