With two further models of its new Grande Trideck superyacht set to debut at September’s Cannes Yachting Festival, Azimut is now charting a boldly original aesthetic course for its flagship vessel. While Alberto Mancini’s sleekly sculptured, elegant exterior design is still a defining signature of the Grande Series, m2atelier’s visionary duo has set out a new creative direction for its inner spaces with a fresh aesthetic language.
This is centered around the concept of Barefoot Luxury, an aesthetic and emotional philosophy which m2atelier has defined for Azimut. It interprets the new yachting generation’s evolving lifestyle that embraces freedom, spontaneity, and a more emotionally instinctive take on life at sea. After all, they say that informal living is one of the ultimate expressions of luxury: unapologetic, unforced, deeply personal, and unbothered by the opinions or thoughts of others.
Staying true to Azimut’s trademark Integral Design approach, the project’s every element was envisioned by m2atelier as part of a harmonious whole. From the structural envelope to loose furnishings, everything has been intentionally penned to embody a matching same design ethos. A pared back yet extremely refined, warm & measured interior language is reflected in Marijana Radovic and Marco Bonelli’s vision.
A thoughtfully curated materials selection emphasizes quality over variety, with rich textures & purposefully pure forms. The architectural vocabulary is defined by straight lines: horizontally and vertically to lend a sense of spaciousness, and diagonally to impart a subtly welcoming intimacy. As a result of this precisely balanced environment, a quietly enveloping hospitality forms. Then the rhythm shifts and confident design gestures make themselves known in a bold counterpoint, sparking curiosity while evoking an undertone of wonder.
This unique narrative is most iconically expressed in the Unveiling Wall that fuses beauty & functionality, combining the couture-level craftsmanship of vertical slats with a sliding mechanism custom-engineered to theatrically reveal the TV screen. Even in its studied minimalism, it daringly presents itself as a work of art in its own right. This will stand as the first of a new generation of Feature Walls: subtly sophisticated statements set to appear in m2atelier’s future projects for Azimut, gracefully uniting harmonious contrasts within their designs.
Federico Lantero, Head of Product Design at Azimut said, “What we wanted to achieve with m2atelier was an interior vision where every element sparks emotional resonance. It goes beyond elegance, it’s about crafting an atmosphere that evolves with those who experience it, offering an inviting calm paired with confident sophistication. The Grande Trideck embodies this idea: a superyacht not just to live, but to feel.”
m2atelier’s creative expression further unfolds a kaleidoscopic architecture throughout the yacht, with meticulously layered geometries and shifting perspectives. From precisely aligned wood grains to the architectural interplays between light & shadow, every element combines to form an expansively curated interior that is both dynamic yet perfectly composed at the same time. One can read right through the yacht’s aesthetic language in a single glance, from the main saloon, through the owner’s suite and right out to the sea; in an expression of openness that nevertheless preserves true intimacy. Layered transparency defines the Owner’s Suite itself, with glass & vertical partitions elongating sight lines while bathing the space in natural light.
Indeed, it is this natural light that has become the aesthetic philosophy’s unifying language, guiding perceptions while revealing further depth. M2atelier’s co-founders Marijana Radovic and Marco Bonelli added, “For us, light is not an accessory. It’s the silent force that gives form to space, reveals the textures of materials, and brings emotional depth to the onboard experience. On the Grande Trideck, light becomes the invisible thread that connects every environment, accentuating the fluidity of the layout and giving each area a distinct atmosphere. We did not want to decorate with light, we wanted it to sculpt. On the Grande Trideck, light becomes architecture.”
Even outdoor living reaches new heights of creative comfort here, with the Foredeck now housing a recessed pool with an integrated chaise longue, and pivoting sunpad backrest. Above that, the Sky Lounge has been redefined to be a dynamic haven for the free-spirited, avant-garde kind of owner who shapes their day on their own terms & expects their yacht to match that energy. Whether for quiet moments, impromptu dinners or movie nights, a versatile hi-lo table effortlessly adapts the space between a laid-back lounge, indoor dining area or media room.
Custom-made pieces crafted by Giorgetti further enrich the interior architecture, with the historic Made in Italy brand’s exclusive designs aligning fully with m2atelier’s Integral Design approach which has successfully defined the Trideck’s stylistic and spatial coherence.
