Bruce McLaren's Legacy Captured In This Stunning Timepiece

The Richard Mille 11-03 McLaren Automatic Flyback Chronograph

Once again, Richard Mille and McLaren have come together to gift another show-stopping timepiece- the RM 11-03 McLaren Automatic Flyback Chronograph. Designed to complement the lifestyles of McLaren owners, this timepiece, limited to 500 pieces, was first shown at this year's Geneva International Motor Show by McLaren's CEO, Mike Flewitt and Mr Richard Mille, CEO of Richard Mille.

This stunner is the product of both the brand's craftsmen collaborating- Rob Melville, Design Director from McLaren and Fabrice Namura, an engineer from Richard Mille. The timepiece is made from a an amalgamation of carbon fibre (Carbon TPT) and underneath the typical outlandish design from RM, is the RMAC3 calibre, a skeletonized movement with a variable geometry rotor.

The timepiece's details echo the design of a McLaren car; McLaren sportscars like the 720S and McLaren F1 come to mind when you notice things like its titanium pushers and inserts. All take its design cues from the aforementioned sportscars, thus keeping the rich racing tradition of Bruce McLaren well and truly alive, beyond the automotive world.

What's interesting though is its movement. It displays hours, minutes and seconds, along with a flyback chronograph function and also has a 60-minute subdial timer positioned at 9 o'clock, a 12-hour totalizer and an oversized date and month indicator. How much? It's in the region of 200,000 USD. But there's a catch to own it.

To be "eligible to buy this remarkable timepiece from Richard Mille, one has to be part of the McLaren Ultimate Series customer programme. And to get to that, you'll need to of course, own one of McLaren's stellar sports car. Yup, life can be unfair like that sometimes.
