Audemars Piguet has introduced their newest addition: The new Code 11.59 Selfwinding Chronograph in the shades of grey. Sized at 41mm, this intricate timepiece is definitely a sight to behold. The Calibre 2952 at its core, its components blending together in a splendid range of shades from grey to black. The case, taking on a two-toned colour, is decorated with a fine contrast of black ceramic and 18-carat white gold.
Craftsmanship At Its Finest
The middle of the case and crown of the watch are made up of black ceramic. And as a contrast, the extra-thin bezel, lugs and chronograph pushers are crafted with 18-carat white gold. The manufacturing process is understandably complex and tedious. This further highlights Audemars Piguet’s high standards and skills, showcasing the best of what they have to offer. The ceramic loses volume in the process, maximising its resistance to scratches and the sintering process is done at over 1000°C, bringing out the full saturation of the colour. Overall, the attention to detail makes for a high quality watch.
The Fine Details of a Luxury Timepiece
The timepiece is adorned with a slate grey semi-matte inner-bezel with a circular snailing finish. And on it, are the white-coloured seconds. The inside, decorated with elaborated architectural bridges that are rhodium-toned for a silver finish, beautifully contrasts with the black mainplate. The barrel bridge situated at 12 o’clock is black, and the 30-minute and 12-hour chronograph counters placed at 9 o’clock and 3 o’clock respectively are transparent, making the gears deeper inside visible. Apart from the shades of grey and black, the watch features shades of gold as well. At 6 o’clock is the golden balance wheel that highlights the flying tourbillon mechanism. For an additional touch, the hands are coloured a polished pink gold, the contrasting colour with the rest of the watch makes it instantly readable.
The Calibre 2952 was first revealed in the year 2020, and the mechanism features a combination of resetting and instant restarting of the chronograph that proves practical in accurately measuring the time.
