On August 23, 2024, Heesen launched the YN20555, 55m Steel named Serena. The owners of this superyacht and their family members attended this launch, consequently welcoming the boat with a christening ceremony.

Built with an ultra-efficient FDFH hull, this large steel superyacht has a whopping 760 gross tonnage. Additionally, its top speed reaches 15 knots, and a stupendous transatlantic range of 4500 nautical miles at the speed of 13 knots.

A Collaboration of Dreams

In collaboration with Heesen Yachts, Arcon Yachts Monaco, Luca Dini Design and Architecture, and Omega Architecture, this marvellous yacht was finally brought to life after the beginning of its construction in 2022. Luca Dini Design and Architecture designed the interior. The design features light woods in velvet finishes, smoked eucalyptus, bronze metal accents, soft fabrics, and leather for a homely feel. In turn, Omega Architecture took charge of the exterior design.

Thanks to the owner’s clear ideas on the yacht’s intended use, their knowledge of life at sea, and their awareness of their needs, they made decision‐making easy and serene. Arcon’s team is highly experienced, having worked on several complex projects with our shipyard, ensuring a seamless experience for clients and the shipyard. Silvia Margutti of Luca Dini Design and Architecture understands our engineering and construction methods and translates the client’s wishes into beautiful designs. Serena is one of the most serene yachts we have ever built,” says Eric Molegraaf, the Project Manager at Heesen, in praise of everyone on the team.

A Lasting Impression of Life at Sea

The atrium, spanning three decks, is decorated with John Pomp’s hand‐blown glass and hand‐sculpted metal light fixtures. This results in a dreamlike atmosphere. Adding on amazonite marble inlays and chevron‐patterned wood panels does wonders to the atrium and lobbies.

Split into three areas is the main saloon. It features a bronze‐finished bar near the sliding doors that serves both the main deck aft terrace and the lounge area. The Skylounge includes a hammered bronze bar, a games table and a comfortable seating area. There’s the Beach Club, with natural light cast upon it through two glass portholes. It is made to look like a water-side salotto, and includes a relaxing sauna. Moreover, the 110sqm sundeck is the ideal spot for hosting various occasions. And a forward seating area, the optimal location to take in the gorgeous sea view.

There are five cabins in this yacht, and it can accommodate a total of 12 guests accordingly. The main deck contains the owner’s quarters, the largest cabin. It includes a lounge, office space, veranda, two walk-in closets and a superb bathroom, ensuring maximum comfort. Then, at the lower deck is where you can find the other four guest staterooms. Two of them are double rooms with beds placed athwartship, whereas the other two are twin rooms with extra Pullman beds. Each of the cabins have their own en-suite bathroom decorated with unique marble in different colours. In effect, this variance in colours adds a welcome touch of individuality.  There is a gym on the bridge deck for health-conscious individuals to keep up their their fitness regime. Equally important is the main deck forwards storing the tenders and exciting water toys for the guests on board.

The Start of Serena’s Journey

Following the successful delivery of Reliance in 2023, Serena marks the second yacht in Heesen’s 55 class that we have had the pleasure to sell and project manage. We are delighted to continue our close partnership with Heesen Yachts, fellow experts in the superyacht industry,” Richard Kaye of Arcon Yachts Monaco said, commemorating the launch.

He then adds, “The beauty of Serena’s design is that she is small enough to enter all the ports in the Med and large enough to offer the owners ample space to enjoy life at sea. The client’s early involvement allowed us to tailor the yacht to their lifestyle, adding unique design elements and technical improvements. Serena is special within the boundaries of building a superyacht on a proven platform, offering a personal touch while benefiting from a reliable base.

And thus, Serena’s launch marks a noteworthy milestone in the world of yacht design and construction. The seamless collaboration between multiple organisations resulted in an innovative and luxurious build. This superyacht, Serena, is set to be delivered in November 2024.
