Sunreef Yachts has now provided a deeper insight into its NEXT design philosophy, even as the global eco-luxury catamaran segment leader sets a new course into sustainable yachting’s future. Much more than simply a model update, Sunreef NEXT comprehensively rethinks sea-borne luxury across the entire yachting industry by fusing lifestyle focused design with smart functionality & advanced eco-technologies.

A boldly rethought on-board experience lives at its heart, reshaping every space’s ambiance, layout & usability according to evolving client lifestyles over 20 years of shipbuilding expertise. All living areas have been redesigned with a smooth flow of freedom in mind, from flybridge to bow, and from salon to waterline.

Up top, a modular flush design now enables the expansive flybridge to purposefully transform for relaxation, sunbathing or social entertaining. The fully revised bow terrace even boasts customizable configurations to integrate trampolines or sunpads.

Just below is the Ocean Lounge, a fold-out private beach club with direct sea access once featured exclusively on superyachts, and now made available across Sunreef’s 60, 70 and 80-foot models. Similar features traditionally reserved for the superyacht segment to be integrated across the 60 to 80 foot lines include fold-out terraces, hydraulic swim platforms, hidden garages, and tender docks. Sunreef Yachts Founder and President Francis Lapp said, “We’ve taken the best of our 100-foot catamarans and made it part of our core lineup.”

Sunreef’s most ambitious leap in green technology will also a part of NEXT. Its advanced Solar Skin 3.0 power solution will be centrally integrated here to combine high-output photovoltaic performance with seamless visual aesthetics. To be built directly into the hulls & superstructures, Sunreef’s proprietary new generation solar panels will feature a sleekly distinctive jet black strip design uninterrupted by aluminum frames. Driven by AI, the system is optimized for peak performance across varying seasons & latitudes.

Lapp explained, “Six years ago, solar was an add-on. Today, it’s part of the DNA of the yacht. Solar Skin 3.0 is clean, powerful, and seamless.” New generation battery systems designed for maximum efficiency & durability will support the solar upgrade, with enhanced chemistries for longer distance voyages, quicker recharging, and much smaller environmental impacts.

Beyond power systems, sustainability is now even a driving influence in Sunreef’s materials choices. Long a trademark of yacht design, NEXT will phase out traditional teak decking in lieu of durable, sustainable alternative timbers that deliver an equally luxurious finish while preserving forests. Lapp said, “We want materials that are regenerative, not extractive. That means thinking differently about beauty and longevity.”

A lighter, organically driven & more spacious interior design language will also be a feature of Sunreef NEXT. Flowing and flexible floor plans prioritize natural light throughout, with soft textures, neutral tones, and other sustainable materials forming a calm, sophisticated atmosphere inspired by coastal nature.

Formerly a rare luxury for yachts coming in at below 100 feet, freestanding bathtubs can now be featured as part of enlarged master suites. Deeper scope for customization than ever before enables layouts to be adapted for family living, including fitness areas, private workspaces, spa-style bathrooms, and children’s rooms with bunk beds.

Sunreef Yachts’ Head of PR, Artur Poloczanski added, “Clients told us what they wanted: more light, more nature, more space to live. So that’s exactly what we designed.” In-house design ensures that all NEXT interiors embody a meticulously balanced fit between technical precision and clients’ personal tastes.

Indeed, a wider cultural shift in the meaning of luxury is reflected in the overall NEXT philosophy. Many contemporary yacht owners now value serenity over showmanship, seeking authentic connection over consumption by favoring vessels crafted around immersive, off-grid experiences rather than speed or spectacle. “Ten years ago, clients asked about horsepower. Now, they ask about solar panels, noise levels, and sustainability. Luxury has become quieter. It’s about presence, wellness, and shared time on board,” Lapp noted.

Marking the next chapter in clean superyachting, Sunreef is currently building three 43-meter electric sailing catamarans, each driven by solar energy & performance-ready sails while featuring expansive interior volumes, emissions-free propulsion, and operation as quiet as a whisper. “If your mental image of a superyacht is a towering white monohull, it’s time to update that image. This is a superyacht redefined — with solar panels, space to breathe, and silence at sea,” Lapp added.

More than just an initiative trickling down from top management levels, this philosophical shift has been executed in direct response to the stated requests of Sunreef owners. Livable luxury has become increasingly desired by the brand’s clientele, meaning adaptable layouts, serene atmospheres, and more efficient smart systems better aligned with their family values and way of life

Lapp explained, “They used to ask for something bold. Now, they ask for something timeless — something they’ll enjoy ten years from now. NEXT is about building for the way people actually live.”
Some of the most discerning global yacht owners are among these clients who have made Sunreef catamarans their personal choice, including legendary F1 World Champion Fernando Alonso, talented tennis star Rafael Nadal, and other high-profile individuals whose identities remain private. Truly, they reflect the undeniably growing appeal of a yacht that seamlessly balances innovation, bespoke beauty, and discretion.

The very concept of a luxury catamaran is now being redefined with Sunreef NEXT. More than just a product line upgrade, it represents the synthesis of lifestyle elegance, engineering excellence, and innovative eco sustainability, backed by a history of world-leading craftsmanship spanning over two decades.
Francis Lapp concluded, “Sunreef NEXT is the future of yachting — not years from now, but today. It’s where luxury meets responsibility. And it’s only the beginning.”
