The Bentley Flying Spur Hybrid has officially been unveiled today at EQ Kuala Lumpur. The arrival of this hybrid auto is a commemoration of Bentley Kuala Lumpur’s 25 years of being in Malaysia, all while marking the commencement of the brand’s Beyond100 initiative which aims to achieve an end-to-end carbon neutral future by 2030.

Based on the highly successful 3rd generation Flying Spur, the hybrid model now integrates an advanced electric motor that supports the 2.9-litre, twin turbocharged V6 petrol engine. Together, the new powertrain delivers a combined output of 544 PS and 750 Nm of torque, driving the ultra-luxury auto from 0 – 100 km/h in just 4.3 seconds and topping out at 285 km/h.

This may be the most fuel efficient model the Crewe auto manufacturer has birthed. Thanks to the innovative synergy of both engines, this hybridised model is capable of sprinting 800 km on a full-tank with the help of the 18 kWh lithium-ion battery. The battery also stores a usable capacity that allows for a 41 km full electric driving experience, with a charge time of 2.5 hours on fast charge.

It comes as no surprise that the Flying Spur Hybrid would incorporate an intuitive battery management system and equipment within the cabin. The automatic Start/Stop switch has been swapped out for a control for drivers to tailor their experience between the three E Modes – EV Drive, Hybrid Mode, and Hold Mode, allowing its user to better manage battery usage during the journey. As default, the EV Drive Mode is engaged on startup to maximise the electric driving feel which is perfect for city driving and shorter journeys.

The infotainment comes with an all-new 12.3″ central touchscreen system that displays all the necessary battery information when the car is operating in EV Mode. The flow of energy between fuel and electric is shown, with additional statistics and e-motion information such as range and battery level available to the driver as well.

As always, the interior showcases Bentley’s expertise in creating a modern cabin that retains its timeless craftsmanship and unrivalled luxury design. And as with most luxury auto brands these days, the Bentley Flying Spur Hybrid can also be customised extensively to suit each individual’s preference with a selection of fifteen leather colours and eight different veneers.

The supremely comfortable seats also come in 5 hide colours, with Bentley’s ‘Wing’ theme set across the lower console and fascia. The Colour Specification option further adds 10 hide colours and two duo-tone interior configurations for maximum personalization.

On to the exterior, Bentley also offers their customers with an additional extended paint range of over 60 exterior colours, including the Mulliner and personal commission. Visually, what truly denotes the Flying Spur Hybrid from the model it was based on is the ‘Hybrid’ badge mounted on the lower front fender, plus the 4 oval tailpipes at the rear, and of course, the universal charging point located on the left of the rear fender.

Bentley is pricing the Flying Spur Hybrid from RM 945,000 onwards excluding duties, taxes, and registration fees. The model is available in the Azure and S variants and is now available for order.
