Mark your calendars and clear your schedules! The Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO) has announced its Season 2025 lineup, filled with the most exciting concerts and also bringing beloved movies to life.
“Where Every Beat Tells A Story” is certainly not an exaggeration. When it comes to MPO – especially for its awe-inducing cinema concerts – the audience can enjoy the movie on a big screen while listening to the tunes played live by the symphony orchestra, providing an all-new magical experience.

Speaking of magic, the first concert to grace Season 2025 is ‘Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets: IN CONCERT’, happening on the 6th and 7th of January, 2025 at Dewan Filharmonik Petronas. The Harry Potter series is arguably one of the most beloved series in history. Enjoyed by both children and adults (who were also once children who loved the series and grew up but did not grow out of love for the series). Universally loved, this explosively popular franchise is an icon of a fictional, magical wizarding world. It made children dream of receiving their Hogwarts’ acceptance letter, taking the train from platform 9¾, and being transported to the grand school of witchcraft and wizardry – living out their magical fantasies.

In every movie, the music plays a huge role in setting the mood. The iconic scores composed by John Williams, ‘Hedwig’s Theme’ for example, is so popular that even non-Harry Potter fans would be able to recognise it. Just listening to the music would cause the listeners to feel as though they themselves are in the Wizarding World. Conducted by Gerard Salonga, the MPO transforms the concert hall into a world of magic with its lovely symphonic tunes taken straight from the second movie of the Harry Potter series. The live music played by the orchestra would certainly prove to be an immersive experience, perfect for enthusiastic ‘potterheads’ or even anyone just looking for a good time to bathe themselves in orchestral tunes.
