Mark your calendars, because this 2025 concert is unlike any other as it celebrates a special milestone. The new year of 2025 marks the year of Johann Strauss II’s 200th birth anniversary, honouring 2 whole centuries of his legacy.

And who is Johann Strauss II?

Also known as the “Waltz King”, Johann Strauss II was an Austrian composer renowned for his beautiful and energetic waltzes and operettas. He was born in Vienna in 1825 and lived during the Romantic era. His music is known for its elegance, grace, and infectious rhythms – successfully captivating both the ears and hearts of his audiences. His pieces are truly timeless, seeing as to how they are still loved and relevant to this day.

And so to commemorate his brilliant legacy, MPO will be playing an entire lineup of his beloved light tunes to welcome the new year. With Gerard Salonga at the forefront of the theatre as the conductor for the concert, the songs in the setlist are as follows:
