The MICHELIN Guide Kuala Lumpur & Penang 2025 has just announced its esteemed list of MICHELIN Starred, Bib Gourmand, and MICHELIN Selected restaurants. The list includes a total of 143 restaurants, highlighting the best of Malaysia’s diverse food scene. The guide showcases Malaysia’s best culinary offerings and introduces new distinctions that award sustainability, innovation, and culinary excellence.

Two MICHELIN Stars and Malaysia’s First MICHELIN Green Star – Dewakan

Dewakan, a contemporary Malaysian restaurant, proudly retains its two MICHELIN Stars and has received the prestigious MICHELIN Green Star, making it the first restaurant in Malaysia to do so. Led by Chef Darren Teoh Min Guo, Dewakan champions local ingredients, particularly unique local produce, to highlight Malaysian flavors. By adopting a nose-to-tail approach and reducing food waste, Dewakan showcases how fine dining can be sustainable.

Dewakan’s commitment to sustainability serves as a great example for other restaurants to use a sustainable approach as well. The introduction of the first MICHELIN Green Star in Malaysia highlights the increasing significance of sustainability in the culinary industry. Michelin acknowledges that exceptional food must be both delicious and environmentally responsible.

As we reveal the third edition of the MICHELIN Guide Kuala Lumpur & Penang 2025, we are truly impressed by the remarkable progress of Malaysia’s culinary landscape. It’s inspiring to see two new restaurants earn one MICHELIN Star, and the addition of 12 new Bib Gourmand establishments showcases the rich diversity of local flavours. From preserving cherished family recipes to embracing sustainability with our first MICHELIN Green Star restaurant, these establishments reflect the heart and soul of Malaysia’s culinary heritage. We are excited to celebrate the passion, creativity, and dedication that make this country’s cuisine special.

Gwendal Poullennec, International Director of the MICHELIN Guide.
