Three Options To Challenge Your Adrenaline Rush

BMW Motorrad Malaysia unveiled three new bikes at the Malaysian Motorcycle Grand Prix 2017 in Sepang International Circuit recently and we thought we’d take a closer look at what’s on offer by the German marque here in Malaysia.

BMW HP4 Race

Limited to only 750 units worldwide, BMW HP4 Race is a purebred racing bike in dapper clothing. This superbike is built for someone who enjoys the sheer thrill of riding; it offers a purebred racing engine similar to specifications 6.2 and 7.2 as in the Endurance and Superbike World Championships. The peak output is 215 hp at 13,900 rpm with maximum torque of 120 Nm reached at 10,000 rpm. With the aim of achieving optimum performance, a 6-speed close-ratio racing gearbox is used with optimized transmission ratios and various secondary ratios.

If one your childhood dreams was to be able to ride on a racing bike which meets the standard of Superbike World Championship, I would say it is no longer a far-fetched dream. The new BMW HP4 Race is in the same category as current superbike factory racing machines in terms of engine and electronics, and if you look closer, you will realise that numerous elements of this bike can also be found the Superbike World Championship and in MotoGP.

Besides that, this beauty also meets the highest demands of racing technology in the area of spring elements and brakes. Featuring two Brembo GP4 PR monoblock brake calipers, the brake system of new HP4 RACE also has parts otherwise only to be found in World Cup machines. Coated with titanium pistons and single-piece aluminium calipers with chemically nickel-plated surface, in addition with 6.75 mm thick 320 millimetre T-type racing steel brakes, the system ensures it will caught eyeballs with its stunning brake performance. This BMW HP4 Race is only available in the BMW HP Motorsport colour scheme which gives the ultimate superbike an aggressive demeanour with a retail price at RM 520,900.

BMW G 310 GS

Motorcycle fans aren’t alien to BMW’s GS range and this G 310 GS has certainly transferred the iconic models prowess to the below-500cc capacity segment. Classic features from its big GS sibling models like high front fender, striking flyline and high rear are embodied in this beautiful bike too. Its compact proportions with a short wheelbase, a 19-inch front wheel and extended spring travel ensure a typical upright posture with an agile, nimble riding response.

In terms of its suspension, the new BMW G 310 GS utilises a tubular steel spaceframe with bolt-on rear section that combines torsional rigidity with robust quality. Given its good stiff balance, this provides the basis for excellent ride stability and a precise steering response. With an output of 34hp at 9,500 rpm and a maximum torque of 28 Nm at 7,500 rpm, the engine of the new BMW G 310 GS is the ideal partner for dynamic riding pleasure even in the city.

The BMW G 310 GS is certainly built to be a daily-rider. Based on its specs and setup, we can assume it to be nimble and agile in the city traffic while supremely robust over lighter terrain but we’ll have to wait on further analysis to tell you more about it. Cosmic Black non-metallic, Racing Red non-metallic and Pearl White metallic are the three available colour variants and you just have to fork out RM 29,900 to own such a high-performance bike for yourself.

BMW S 1000 XR

With the introduction of the BMW S 1000 XR in 2015, BMW Motorrad offered its own new interpretation of the sports touring range, not least adding a powerful dose of emotion into the mix. The Adventure Sports style was born – a fascinating synthesis of innovative technology, performance and safety combined with dynamic touring qualities, sporty performance, a high level of comfort and supreme everyday practicality.

Even more potent now, the new XR offers a new in-line 4-cylinder engine which meets the EU4 requirements. In the new S 1000 XR, BMW Motorrad presents the 999 cc in-line 4-cylinder engine not just in an adapted form to meet the requirements of the EU4 pollutant class but also with enhanced power. The output is now 165 hp at 11,000 rpm, in other words it has been increased by 5 hp.

This superbike is available in a new colour offering of refined Ocean Blue metallic matt which gives the Adventure Sport touring bike a more distinctive and refined appearance. And you can bring it home by paying an amount up to RM 105,900 and begin your adventurous trip in no time.
