Founded by engineering visionary Christian von Koenigsegg over 3 decades ago now, this gutsy Swedish outfit based in a former fighter jet squadron’s home has always been known for its hypercars & so-called megacars that consistently push the boundaries of extreme high performance beyond what others think possible. From the legacy CCR that made its mark as history’s first car to eclipse the McLaren F1’s top speed, right through to the Agera-based One:1 and new Jesko Attack which broke new lap records at both Laguna Seca & the Top Gear Test Track, they have always redefined the known limits of all-out automotive performance. Now the Jesko’s story comes full circle with the Sadair’s Spear aimed purely at blisteringly fast racetrack performance above all else with significantly evolved aerodynamics, more power, reduced weight, upgraded suspension & brakes, and a highly focused interior. Yet it still boasts full road legality across all global markets, even as it sets an altogether new benchmark in the Ghost Squadron’s heritage.

Christian von Koenigsegg said, “Sadair’s Spear represents a natural progression for Koenigsegg—an impeccable balance of raw power, refined aerodynamics, and extraordinary road presence. This car is destined to set records. Achieving such track dominance in a fully road-legal vehicle is nothing short of remarkable.”

Deeply rooted in that heritage, even the name “Sadair’s Spear” possesses a profoundly personal meaning. Christian had previously honoured his father Jesko on his 80th birthday by christening the Koenigsegg Jesko after him, as a perfectly honorary tribute for his support that proved vital to the company in its formative years.

A passionate gentleman jockey with lifelong ties to the Swedish equestrian community, Jesko von Koenigsegg’s favourite racehorse that he rode in 1976 for his final race was named Sadair’s Spear. And naturally, the car that will proudly bear this storied name is also extensively re-engineered for peak track capability without a single compromise.

Aerodynamic performance without equal is absolutely centric to its ambitious target. The new car’s airflow has been meticulously optimized by Koenigsegg’s advanced CFD team for unprecedented downforce and cooling. Its top-mounted, active double rear wing is bound to capture most viewers’ attention first, ideally honed to generate maximum cornering traction at racetrack speeds, while working harmoniously with the refined aero package’s other elements including recontoured underfloor strakes.

Around the Sadair’s Spear’s forward section, its enlarged dive planes, optimized hood vents & wheel arch louvres further boost both cooling airflow and downforce to balance the rear wing’s effect. The revised front hood vent with an integrated Gurney flap plays a key role here, by ensuring optimal thermal management airflow & higher downforce in critical areas. Working in conjunction with the Active Ride Height system and front Triplex damper, they provide dynamically increased handling prowess & usefully detailed steering feedback.

The formidable twin-turbo V8 engine’s performance at high speeds is further boosted by specially designed rear hood scoops. Together with an updated ECU calibration, their enhanced airflow and cooling enable increased peak outputs of 1,300 hp on regular unleaded petrol, up to a maximum of 1,625 hp when running E85 bio-ethanol fuel. It delivers astonishing high revving throttle response via Koenigsegg’s groundbreaking Light Speed Transmission (LST), that would likely need a doctorate in Physics to describe in full detail. Suffice to say that it spins up to a staggering rate of 46,000 RPM without needing a flywheel.

Marking 10 years since Koenigsegg’s acclaimed One:1 first broke cover, Sadair’s Spear elevates the power-to-weight boundary ever higher, shedding around 35 kg of weight for an extraordinary ratio that exceeds even the iconic 1:1 benchmark.

Much of this mass has been shaved from the focused, minimalistic cockpit with a lightweight center console, redesigned carbon fiber seats & varied lightweight interior and mechanical components. 2.6 kg was saved by reducing sound insulation, with the added benefit of an even more emotive & engaging driving experience; while new carbon fiber manufacturing techniques cut another 1.3 kg.

These evolutionary enhancements have resulted in a hypercar as visually enthralling as it is technically advanced, able to perform dominantly on roads and racetracks alike. Already showing its immense potential, Sadair’s Spear has broken the Jesko Attack’s previous lap record by 1.1 seconds during initial shakedown testing at Gotland Ring. Only 30 Sadair’s Spears will ever be produced, with the entire run already spoken for upon the car’s private unveiling.
