In the 2025 GT2 European Series Powered by Pirelli season’s second race weekend, Maserati proved to be the star of the show with its GT2s scoring both overall and class wins at the legendary Dutch Zandvoort circuit.

Driving the #1 LP Racing GT2, Am Class championship leader Philippe Prette started race 1 in pole position and immediately set a fast pace that his opponents couldn’t quite match, pulling out a lead greater than 15 seconds before his mandatory pitstop. Over the following laps, the French driver with an Italian license successfully held off the chasing professional drivers behind him to take the overall win with under a second’s advantage, along with the Am Class victory. This marks the first time that an Am Class driver has scored an overall GT2 win since 2022.

Dinamic Motorsport’s #7 Pro-Am class Maserati GT2 ended up coming home third. Roberto Pampanini held the final podium position throughout the race’s first half, before handing the wheel over to Switzerland’s Mauro Calamia during the pitstops. The Swiss driver brought the car across the line still in third place, while finishing second in his class.

Come Race 2, Calamia started the Dinamic Motorsport Maserati GT2 third on the grid; he skillfully moved up to second place before passing the car over to Roberto Pampanini. The Italian driver emerged from the pits just behind the race leader and closely shadowed him, before attacking decisively mere minutes away from the chequered flag. His efforts paid off with an overall win and Pro-Am Class victory, signing off a rather triumphant motorsport weekend for the House of the Trident.

Meanwhile, a qualifying accident saw Race 1 winner Philippe Prette starting the LP Racing #1 Maserati GT2 at the grid’s rear. Not letting this deter him, he mounted a fast, accomplished comeback that earned him another Am Class win, as well as third place overall.

Maserati Corse Head Maria Conti said, “Once again today, we have reconfirmed how Maserati’s racing DNA is synonymous with passion, success and performance. We did it with wins and an extraordinary haul – a pole, two overall victories, two first places in the Am Class, as well as a P1 and a P2 in the Pro-Am Class – on a completely new track for the GT2 European Series. Zandvoort with its curves and elevation gain is an extremely fascinating track and is even more so for us: a Maserati 4CL won the first ever race held here in 1948, with the Prince of Siam at the wheel. This weekend we added a new chapter to our glorious history in motorsport, ahead of the major anniversary we will be celebrating next year, when we reach a century of Maserati in racing. The countdown has already begun, and now the spotlight falls on the Maserati GT2 in the iconic setting of the CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa to increase the milestones in our trophy haul.”

The GT2 European Series Powered by Pirelli’s next race will take place on the 26th-29th of June, at none other than Belgium’s iconic, storied Spa-Francorchamps racetrack.
