Lamborghini’s first-ever all-terrain super sports car was finally unveiled at Art Basel, Miami Beach this week. The new Huracán Sterrato is a project designed to go off-road away from asphalt tracks, reinterpreting the very concept of sportiness and driving pleasure regardless of the environment, displaying the brand’s principles of being brave, authentic, and sprightful.

Driving in any terrain besides the tarmac street is hard enough as it is, but Automobili Lamborghini goes a step beyond that to hone the Sterrato with optimised driving dynamics that allows for the all-terrain auto to travel at high-speeds from the highway to dirt roads. The Sterrato comes with an updated version of the Huracán EVO’s Lamborghini Integrated Vehicle Dynamics (LDVI) system, fixed with specific STRADA and SPORT calibrations plus a RALLY mode that allows for the vehicle to thrive in low-grip conditions.

The exterior is an accurate depiction of the Sterrato’s adventurous spirit right from the first glance. The ground clearance has been increased by 44 mm as compared to the Huracán EVO to accommodate a greater suspension travel, as with the front and rear track widths being augmented to be slightly wider by 33 mm and 34 mm respectively. The Sterrato is also fitted with added shielding such as the aluminium front underbody protection, reinforced sills, and the rear diffuser and the sturdy wheel arches that all contribute to its muscularity and ruggedness.

The all-terrain vehicle also incorporates brakes with aluminium fixed monoblock callipers with six pistons on the front and four on the rear, paired with ventilated and cross-drilled carbon-ceramic discs to work seamlessly with the custom-engineered Bridgestone Dueler AT002 tyres that boast 19″ rims. The tyres are engineered to provide maximum versatility and adaptability for any condition or surface, integrated with run-flat technology that guarantees a minimum of 80 km at 80 kph with 0 pressure in the event of a puncture.

The powertrain of the Sterrato sports a 5.2-liter V10 engine with a maximum power output of 610 CV and 560 Nm of torque at 6500 rpm, combined with 7-speed dual-clutch transmission and electronically controlled AWD with rear mechanical self-locking differential. Designed to offer optimum performance on unpaved and sandy surfaces, the Sterrato is capable of completing the century sprint in just 3.4 seconds with the capacity to handle a top speed of 260 km/h off-road.

The Sterrato is testimony to how the Lamborghini design DNA works perfectly even with unexpected proportions,” commented Mitja Borkert, Lamborghini’s Head of Design. “The Sterrato’s design translates its super sports car heritage into a new lifeform, reflecting its specific intent to deliver a truly unique and fun driving experience.

As with most Lamborghini supercars, the Sterrato also offers limitless customization options thanks to the Ad Personam program in which customers can choose from 350 external colours and over 60 colours for the leather and Alcantara interiors. The all-terrain supercar will be a limited-edition production of just 1499 units set to begin in February 2023.
