15 years is a key initial milestone for any organisation, and so it is with Porsche Malaysia who are hosting their grand Accelerating Dreams celebration event at The Exchange TRX’s Central Exchange on 11 – 13 April 2025. Alongside the newly unveiled 992.2 generation 911 Carrera, the anniversary celebration also pays tribute to Porsche’s richly storied motorsport history and DNA, represented here by the Sime Motors Racing Team 911 GT3 Cup Car currently racing in the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia one-make series.

Porsche Malaysia has made significant strides since being founded by Sime Motors in 2010. The company’s sales have grown tremendously, with the 911 and Cayenne becoming top selling models in their segments for Malaysian driving enthusiasts – a success factor that has led it to becoming one of Porsche’s most important market drivers within the ASEAN region. From the single dealership at Porsche Centre Glenmarie, their local presence has expanded to four dealerships including Penang, and Johor Bahru where Malaysia’s first Porsche Classic Centre has also been established to support and provide factory level restorations of the marque’s passionately owned iconic older models.

“This is a proud moment for us all at Sime, thanks to the continued trust and support from our long-standing partner, Porsche. We’ve been representing the brand in Malaysia for 15 years now, and it’s been a truly remarkable journey. We’ve achieved milestones and bridged opportunities together – not just in Malaysia but across ASEAN. The team at Porsche Malaysia reaffirms our commitment to delivering world-class standards by creating meaningful customer experiences, while shaping the future of e-mobility,” stated Dato’ Jeffri Salim Davidson, Group Chief Executive Officer of Sime.

Christopher Hunter, Chief Executive Officer of Auto Performance said, “As we look back on our journey, we are happy to see a consistent pattern of growth in Malaysia. With the Cayenne as the popular choice amongst the sports car fans, we have enabled more Malaysian families to be part of the vibrant Porsche community. At the same time, through unique experiences like the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia, Porsche Malaysia continues to offer an unparalleled sports car ownership experience. Looking ahead, our ambition is to continue this upward trajectory, accelerating dreams for all Porsche owners in Malaysia. To our customers, partners, and the entire Porsche and Sime family — we would like to thank every one of you for being an instrumental part of this milestone. Your dedication and support have enabled us to accelerate further, and we look forward to more growth together.”

Hannes Ruoff, Chief Executive Officer of Porsche Asia Pacific added, “Over the past 15 years, Porsche Malaysia has established itself as a key market within the ASEAN region, achieving remarkable milestones that are the cornerstone of our regional development here. From local assembly in Kulim, to regional export from Malaysia to Thailand, and establishing the first cross-border High Performance Charging network in ASEAN – these achievements are nothing short of inspiring, reflecting Porsche Malaysia’s commitment to innovation, progress, and the pioneering Porsche spirit,” said. Thank you for being an outstanding partner in the region for Porsche, and here’s to paving the way for even more exciting experiences for our Porsche customers and fans in the years to come.”

Taking centre stage at the 15th anniversary celebration was the 911 Carrera’s newest 992.2 generation, continuing to push the boundaries of technical engineering while staying true to its soulful sports car driving heritage. For the first time in its history, the new 911 GTS incorporates an advanced T-Hybrid system with an integrated motor and more responsive electric exhaust gas turbocharger, producing 541 PS and 610 Nm of torque without any significant weight increase. The 3 liter twin turbocharged boxer-6 engine itself is also retained in the base 911 Carrera, now with an increased output of 394 PS. Both models are now available for Malaysian Porsche enthusiasts to order, with prices starting at RM 1,430,000 for the Carrera 4 GTS and RM 1,890,000 for the 911 Carrera respectively.

Having seen significant sales success within the SUV market, the Porsche Cayenne has also been instrumental in Porsche Malaysia’s story, with the first local Porsche assembly plant outside of Europe having been established in March 2022 as a key pillar of Porsche’s business in the region. As a particular point of pride for our Southeast Asian nation, the locally assembled Cayenne was introduced at the same time and is still available today from RM 599,999.

The local assembly facility in Kulim was further expanded in July 2024 with the new Cayenne S E-Hybrid Coupé. Alongside transferring high level technical knowledge on hybrid powertrains to the 100% Malaysian workforce, the new model represented another notable milestone by being the first Porsche model to be exported from Malaysia to Thailand. Launched in January 2025 for the Malaysian market, the sporty yet practical SUV was first publicly showcased here with prices starting from RM 728,000.

In line with Porsche’s efforts to become a technology leader in E-mobility, Porsche Malaysia has also built up an extensive High-Performance Charging network in partnership with Shell, covering long distance EV travel across borders from Singapore through Malaysia all the way to Thailand. Following its completion along the North-South Highway, the comprehensive network was expanded to cover the East Coast Expressway and the first Genting Highlands charging hub. It boasts 360 kWh maximum rated Shell Recharge high performance chargers that can charge a Taycan from 0 – 80% SoC in just 20 minutes. All Porsche EV owners also enjoy special benefits including reduced charging tariffs and more generous charger reservation times.

Next to these well-equipped public facilities, Porsche Malaysia’s dealerships incorporate their own strong in-house charging ecosystem, with complimentary 350 kW DC chargers provided for Porsche EV owners. As part of the 15th anniversary celebration, customers who book a Taycan or Macan will also be gifted with specially liveried 11-kW Porsche Mobile Chargers for easier home charging. Those opting for the new Porsche 360 Financing programme on their EVs will additionally benefit from greater flexibility with low monthly commitments, options to spread costs over 36 to 60 months, and guaranteed future values for both Taycan and Macan. The choice is given to customers whether to upgrade to a newer model, retain ownership, or consider other flexible options when their financing period ends.

Expressing their strong passion for the marque’s rich motorsport DNA, Porsche Malaysia has practically found a second home at the centrally located PETRONAS Sepang International Circuit, with numerous track related activities throughout each calendar year. Their unique driving experiences span from the well organised and received series of official Track Days – always abundantly attended by Porsche owners more focused on circuit driving, especially the GT and RS communities – to the annual Porsche World Roadshow that gives customers and enthusiasts alike the opportunity to fully experience the thrilling track capabilities of Porsche’s full current model range.

Seeking to build and nurture local Malaysian motorsport talents, the Sime Motors Racing team has raced actively in the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia (PCCA) one-make championship races through the years, with the current 992.1 911 GT3 Cup spearheading their most recent efforts. Their search for new racing talents also continues in the exciting world of E-sports, as the Porsche E-sports Sprint Challenge Malaysia has taken its place as an alternative pathway into virtual motorsports for younger enthusiasts.

In addition to the cars themselves, a passionately thriving community of owners and fans has always been at Porsche Malaysia’s heart. Since its inception, Porsche Club Malaysia in particular has been an integral pillar in enhancing the marque’s Malaysian journey, enabling owners to express their passion for Porsche through myriad programmes from thrillingly unforgettable drives to golf and lifestyle experiences alike. The Club has always been resolute in their support for the brand, forging lasting friendships among owners and sparking connective camaraderie that strongly enhances the Porsche ownership experience. Observing what they’ve managed to build up together in the last 15 years, Porsche looks set to have a highly positive future in Malaysia indeed.
