5th Consecutive Record Year for Mercedes Benz Malaysia (MBM) Attributed To Customer-Centric Strategies.

Distinctively shining above the rest within the premium segment, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia recorded yet another extraordinary performance for 2018 with a total of 13,079 vehicles sold, surpassing the 2017 record of 12,045 vehicles sold. With an increase of 1,034 vehicles sold over the previous year, this translates to an approximate 8.6% growth, solidifying the three-pointed star’s position as the market leader in the premium segment with a 2.4% market share.

This record breaking performance was spearheaded by the locally produced limousines line-up which recorded a total of 7,910 units sold. This was followed by the Mercedes-Benz SUV range with a total of 2,613 units sold, which primarily consisted of locally produced Mercedes-Benz GLC 200 and GLC 250. The Mercedes-Benz compact cars recorded a total of 1,875 units sold, while the Mercedes-Benz Dream Cars recorded a staggering 77% growth with a total of 662 units sold. The remaining 19 units consisted of the Mercedes-Benz V-Class.

The healthy momentum of demand for Mercedes-Benz vehicles is also attributed to the 20 vehicle launches spread in 2018. Key debuts included the locally-assembled Mercedes-AMG C 43 and GLC 43, Mercedes-AMG E 53 Sedan and Mercedes AMG E 53 Coupé, its New Dream Cars Collection, the new Mercedes-Benz S-Class Family, and the all-new Mercedes-Benz A-Class and new generation C-Class.

Additionally, the success is also credited to Mercedes-Benz Malaysia’s Customer-Centric Strategies. In 2018, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia spearheaded engaging activities to match a diverse fan base aligned to its overall Best Customer Experience commitment through events like Urban Hunting x ULTRA Singapore 2018, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in Kuala Lumpur, the MercedesTrophy. MBM also introduced the AMG Owners Club Malaysia (AOCM) which is aimed at elevating the AMG experience with exclusive access to all things AMG for owners.

Complementing the results was also Mercedes-Benz Services Malaysia’s (MBSM) steady growth in financing and insurance solutions. For the year, MBSM financed four out of every ten Mercedes-Benz vehicles sold and has a solid servicing portfolio of MYR 2.7 billion.

On its outlook for the year ahead, Dr. Claus Weidner, MBM President and CEO said, “2019 will be another exciting year for Mercedes-Benz with refreshing innovations and new benchmarks to elevate the customer experience. We are excited to share these updates in due time.”
