Wind Down Eclectic Style

Have you ever wanted to wind-down at a place that’s got a relaxing ambiance, decent drinks and a kitchen that closes at 2am? The answer is, “I will” or ‘Saro’, in Italian. That’s where this new restaurant cum lounge gets its namesake from and what’s really quirky about the place is that it has a Thai-fusion food menu and a properly-stocked bar. And if you’re a Cuban aficionado, they’ve got the Cohibas too.

Open on Sunday – Monday from 4:00pm to 1:00am, and Tuesday – Saturday from 4:00pm to 3:00am, it is located on the 8th floor of Pavilion Elite (perched next to Pavilion Mall, Bukit Bintang). Saro Lounge is the latest Kuala Lumpur hideout for the casual night-life lover, a great place if you’d want to catch up with old school/uni mates or if you’ve just hit the roof with the stress at work because its the perfect place to knock a few drinks back.

And yes, they have a few house specials: the Saro Sour, Rum Negroni and this writer’s favourite, the Signature Monkey 47. The barkeep’s at Saro Lounge also know how to pour a good Old Fashioned whiskey and have a wide selection of drinks, even tequila.

The food is also refreshing and quite friendly to the tastebuds: Inspired by his Thai background, Head Chef Nopporn Nutto has put together a nice menu comprised of small plates and main course dishes. For those looking for hors ‘doeuvres to accompany their drinks, Saro’s Signature Shells offers 6 bite-sized pieces of Crispy Fillo pastry topped with different toppings consisting of Beef, Chicken, Tomato, Mushroom, Avocado and Smoked Salmon. Those seeking a more substantial meal can opt for pasta sautéed in Saro’s own homemade Fusion Pesto sauce served with either Chicken or Soft Shell Crab. Meat-lovers would appreciate the Grilled Australian Beef on Skewers marinated with Garlic, Pepper and Capsicum, that is served with a bowl of Garlic Fried Rice.

One main highlight about Saro Lounge is it’s architectural design; there’s a very entertaining light feature that has been cleverly integrated into the ceiling, a first of its kind in Malaysia which makes for great social media posts. The light feature boasts an impressive multitude of configurations to suit any mood which brings varying moods to the lounge’s overall feel, something which makes the trip over really worth it.

The lounge mimics the current trends of lounge’s in Europe, and if you’ve traversed that side of the world often enough, you will see it in its neat wood finishes and proper leather seats.

Saro Lounge also has a Private Room in the works, one that caters for that birthday party or company dinner, fully specced with karaoke facilities and its very own restroom. We think it’s a great place but dont take our word for it, get in touch with Saro Lounge at sarolounge.com /call +603 2110 4080 to know all about what you can do in this stylish lounge and experience it for yourself.
